IndyCar veteran Conor Daly is set to drive the No. 78 car for Juncos Hollinger Racing for the rest of the season, starting with the upcoming race at World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis. The announcement was made by the team on Wednesday. Daly is taking over the seat from Agustin Canapino, who left the team the previous week after facing controversy on social media.

Daly expressed his excitement about reuniting with team co-owner Ricardo Juncos, highlighting their past success together in the Road to Indy program. The driver mentioned that Juncos had taken a chance on him early in his career, and he feels confident returning to work with familiar faces on the team.

Canapino’s departure from Juncos Hollinger Racing came in June amid a dispute over online threats allegedly made by his fans towards a rival driver. The situation led to Arrow McLaren Racing severing ties with the team. Former teammate Callum Ilott also voiced concerns about Canapino’s fan base and his lack of support from the team in the past.

Daly, who has already driven for two different teams this season, is now joining forces with Juncos Hollinger Racing and teammate Romain Grosjean for the remainder of the season. Juncos expressed optimism about Daly’s return to the team, reminiscing about their past achievements and aiming for strong results in the upcoming races.
