The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced a partnership with Apple to introduce iPad technology to the sidelines and coaching booths for the upcoming football season. All 17 football members of the ACC, including new additions like California, SMU, and Stanford, will receive league-provided iPad Pro and iPad Air models to enable video playback. This initiative follows the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel’s approval of in-game video usage in April.
ACC commissioner Jim Phillips emphasized the conference’s commitment to technological advancements, highlighting the creation of a new gameday operations center that will support football replays. The headquarters move to Charlotte last year further facilitates this development.
The ACC’s football season kicks off on Aug. 24 in Dublin, Ireland, with a match between Florida State and Georgia Tech. This move signifies a significant step in integrating technology into game analysis and decision-making processes on the field.
