Mystery deepens as daughter suspected carbon monoxide

Hollywood icon Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, have been found dead in their Santa Fe home, authorities confirmed.

The couple, who had been married since 1991, were discovered alongside their deceased dog after a concerned neighbor requested a welfare check. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza stated that no foul play is suspected, though two other dogs were found alive at the scene.

Mysterious Circumstances Raise Questions

While their bodies were found Wednesday afternoon, police could not officially confirm their identities until Thursday morning. Sheriff Mendoza did not disclose a cause of death or estimate when the couple may have passed. Further updates on the tragic discovery are expected later in the day.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Suspected

Gene Hackman’s daughter, Elizabeth Jean Hackman, speculated that her father and stepmother may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. She told TMZ that while the official cause remains unknown, inhalation of toxic fumes is a possibility.

The Academy Award-winning actor was 95, while his wife was 64. Authorities continue to investigate the heartbreaking loss of the Hollywood legend and his longtime partner.
