Mississippi’s Medicaid administrator resigns to take a role in the private sector.

JACKSON, Miss. — Drew Snyder, the executive director of Mississippi’s Medicaid program, will be resigning at the end of this month to pursue an opportunity in the private sector, Governor Tate Reeves announced on Wednesday.

In light of Snyder’s departure, Governor Reeves has appointed Cindy Bradshaw as the new leader for the Medicaid program. Bradshaw has served as the deputy executive director since April 2023, making her a familiar figure within the organization.

Medicaid is a health insurance initiative financed by both state and federal governments, aimed at assisting low-income individuals. As of May, approximately 684,000 individuals from Mississippi’s nearly 3 million population were beneficiaries of Medicaid.

Snyder, a lawyer by profession, has been at the helm of the Medicaid program since January 2018. According to Governor Reeves, he ranks among the five longest-serving Medicaid directors in the nation, reflecting his extensive experience in overseeing the program.
