Michelle Obama: I’m terrified about possible 2024 outcome

To be honest: I’m terrified about 2024. What’s gonna happen in this next election? I’m terrified about what could possible happen. Because our leaders matter. Who we select. Who speaks for us. Who holds this bully pulpit. Most people think today government is doing anything for us anyway. But we cannot take this democracy for granted. Sometimes I worry that we do. 

Those are the things that keep me up. It’s more important than ever to defend our democracy. The next election will be the choice between freedom – freedom of press, freedom of expression, freedom for all political views – and in the worst case a new dictatorship.

The most important thing in developping our country into the future – with all the new innovations like AI, robots, new technologies – is that we keep our democracy working. That we don’t elect leaders who want to destroy our democracy.

And I’m really terrified that people take all for granted now, that they dont vote next time, that they think a protest vote for a non democratic leader might be a good idea.
