Michael Conforto signs a $17 million, one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to an AP source.

DALLAS — Outfielder Michael Conforto has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers on a one-year deal worth $17 million, according to a source familiar with the talks.

The agreement was reported to be contingent upon Conforto successfully passing a physical examination.

The news comes after MLB.com first indicated the arrangement. Conforto, who was a first-round draft selection and will celebrate his 32nd birthday on March 1, recorded a batting average of .237 along with 20 home runs and 66 runs batted in during his time with the San Francisco Giants this past season. This marked the conclusion of a two-year, $36 million contract he signed earlier.

Prior to his time with the Giants, he played six seasons with the New York Mets from 2015 to 2021, where he earned the distinction of being an All-Star in 2017. After declining an $18.4 million qualifying offer from the Mets, Conforto was unable to sign with any team in 2022 while he focused on recovering from shoulder surgery.

Across his nine seasons in Major League Baseball, he boasts a career batting average of .251, tallying 167 home runs and 520 RBIs. This latest deal marks a significant opportunity for Conforto to revive his career with a prominent team like the Dodgers.
