Miami Real Estate Moguls, Face New Allegations in Sex Trafficking

  • Miami real estate brothers Tal, Alon, and Oren Alexander face new sex trafficking charges, including trafficking a minor.
  • Six additional victims came forward, expanding the scope of the federal case.
  • The brothers also face sexual battery charges in Miami-Dade County while being held in Brooklyn’s federal detention center.

Real estate developers Tal and Alon Alexander, along with their brother Oren, now face more federal charges. A grand jury filed a new indictment in the Southern District of New York. This indictment adds six more alleged victims to their case. One of these victims was under 18 years old when the crime allegedly happened in 2009. Prosecutors say the three brothers ran a long-term sex trafficking scheme. They accuse them of using drugs, lies, and violence to abuse women for years. The charges come as Alon and Oren prepare to face a separate criminal case in Miami-Dade County.

Prosecutors Add Alleged Minor Victim to the Federal Case

The new indictment accuses Tal and Alon of forcing a girl to perform a commercial sex act in 2009. She was a minor at the time. This charge marks a serious shift in the case. The original charges involved just two adult victims. Now, prosecutors say the brothers trafficked a total of eight women. They also claim that the abuse started in 2009 and continued for years. Prosecutors say the men offered money, trips, and other material benefits to lure women. Then they used drugs or physical force to control and abuse them.

New Court Documents Describe Violent Tactics Used by the Brothers

Prosecutors claim the brothers used disturbing methods to carry out their crimes. Court records say they secretly drugged women’s drinks. They then raped or assaulted them while ignoring screams and demands to stop. The documents say they used fraud and pressure to get women to meet them in private. Some victims traveled with them across state lines. Once alone, the brothers allegedly attacked them using a mix of drugs, lies, and physical violence. Prosecutors say the brothers ran this sex trafficking operation for over a decade.

Miami-Dade Charges Still Active Against Alon and Oren

In addition to the federal charges, the state of Florida is also going after Alon and Oren. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office charged both men with sexual battery. That case remains open and active. The two men plan to fight those charges as well. Prosecutors in Miami believe the abuse happened during separate events from the federal case. If convicted, the brothers could face long prison sentences in both state and federal courts.

All Three Brothers Remain in Federal Custody in New York

The government continues to hold Tal, Alon, and Oren at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The court denied them bail due to the serious nature of the charges. Officials believe the brothers pose a flight risk. All three men have pleaded not guilty to the original charges. Their legal teams have not yet entered new pleas for the additional counts. The court expects them to do so sometime next week.

Full List of New Federal Charges Against the Brothers

The new charges outline what each brother now faces. Oren Alexander faces two counts of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, three counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and one count of coercing travel for sex acts. Tal Alexander faces the same charges, plus one count of trafficking a minor. Alon Alexander also faces the same list as Tal. These are serious crimes. Each one carries the possibility of many years in federal prison.

Defense Lawyer Calls the New Charges Baseless

Oren’s lawyer, Richard Klugh, responded to the new indictment. He said the charges have no merit. He also claimed that the government wants to save a weak case by adding more accusations. Klugh promised to fight the charges in court. He said his team would prove Oren’s innocence. Tal’s lawyer did not respond to requests for comment. Alon’s legal team also stayed silent after the new indictment.
