Meth Madness in the Swamp

A meth man bitten by an alligator stunned Florida authorities after surviving the attack, only to charge at deputies with garden shears and get fatally shot. The explosive series of events unfolded early Monday in Lakeland, just south of Orlando.

Timothy Schulz, 42, was seen swimming in a known gator-infested lake, clearly under the influence, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Good Samaritans tried tossing him a life vest, but he growled at them like an animal. Moments later, one of the lake’s real predators chomped down on his right arm.

Gator Attack Doesn’t Stop the Meth-Fueled Rampage

Despite the gruesome bite, Schulz didn’t stop. Bleeding and crazed, he stormed out of the water and broke into a nearby home. That’s where he grabbed a pair of garden shears and took off again.

“He was bitten by an alligator and still continued his rampage,” Sheriff Grady Judd said. “If you’re on enough meth, the person you see is not the person that’s attacking.”

Deputies raced to the scene, still hoping to take him in without bloodshed. But when they confronted him, Schulz came charging with the shears.

A deputy fired a taser, but it didn’t even slow him down. Schulz then lunged into the patrol vehicle and tried to grab one of the deputy’s firearms, the sheriff said.

That’s when the standoff turned deadly.

“Our deputies shot multiple times,” Judd said. “As a result, Timothy is deceased.”

Deadly End to a Familiar Face

Authorities confirmed Schulz had just been released from jail on May 20 after another meth bust. His rap sheet was loaded with drug-related offenses.

“This is the tragic end when someone lets drugs rule their life,” Judd said. “It’s sad for the community and dangerous for our officers.”

All officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, as is standard procedure.

Community Left in Shock

Neighbors said they heard shouting, sirens, and gunshots all within minutes.

“It was chaos,” one resident told local news. “One minute he was in the water, the next, he’s on someone’s porch with a weapon.”

While Schulz’s rampage ended in death, questions remain about how someone just out of jail was back on meth and wreaking havoc so quickly.

Meth, Gators, and Guns: A Florida Story

The bizarre combination of a drug-fueled rampage, a wild animal attack, and a deadly police confrontation paints a grim picture.

Only in Florida could a meth man bitten by alligator cap off his rampage by trying to steal a cop’s gun — and only meth could’ve fueled such madness.

The case remains under review.
