A horrifying meat cleaver attack rocked a quiet Brooklyn street Sunday morning, leaving several victims—including children—seriously injured.
The violent rampage erupted around 10 a.m. on 84th Street in Bensonhurst, sources told The Post. Police say the attacker used a large blade to slash multiple people before charging at officers.
Witnesses say it looked like a war zone.
Kids Among Those Butchered in Brutal Attack
A woman and three girls, ages 8 to 16, were among the victims. The suspect, armed with a meat cleaver, cut through the home and the street before NYPD officers shot him to end the bloodshed.
Neighbor Maria watched the horror unfold from her window.
“I saw the girl come out covered in blood,” she said. “Then another girl—both just drenched. I’m still shaking. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Meat Cleaver attack: Cops Shoot Suspect After Wild Confrontation
When police arrived, they found a nightmare scene. Blood streaked the home. Screams echoed through the street.
The man refused to drop his weapon. Instead, he lunged toward the officers, forcing them to open fire.
“He was shot twice,” said neighbor Humbert Huerta. “They pulled him out, all bloody, no shirt. Looked like he was around 40.”
The attacker was taken away on a stretcher in critical condition.
Victims Rushed to Maimonides Hospital
Emergency responders raced all of the wounded to Maimonides Medical Center. At least one child is listed in critical condition, according to law enforcement sources.
Images from the scene show a young girl covered in blood from head to toe, sitting outside the building. Another photo captured blood inside the house—splattered across the floor.
Mystery Surrounds Suspect and Victims
Police believe the man attacked at least six people before they stopped him. Some of the children may have been related, though that’s still being investigated.
Sources say the mother of some of the kids was not home at the time.
“It’s terrifying,” said another neighbor. “You move here thinking you’re safe—and then this.”
Babysitter May Be Among the Victims
State Assemblyman Lester Chang, who represents the district, confirmed that one of the injured may have been a babysitter.
“This kind of violence shocks the community,” he said. “Our prayers are with the victims. We’re waiting on more details.”
Police have not released the names of the attacker or the victims.
Area Shaken as Blood-Stained Home Cordoned Off
Officers locked down the area and launched a full investigation. Crime scene tape surrounded the home. Forensics teams moved in with evidence bags and cameras.
Bensonhurst residents stood in shock. Many said the family had only recently moved in.
“I’ve been here seven years,” Maria said. “It’s a nice area. But lately, too many new people. I don’t even know my neighbors anymore.”
Officials Prepare to Address the Media
A press conference was expected at the scene Sunday afternoon. Police have promised more details soon, including whether the suspect has a criminal history or mental health issues.
Until then, locals remain rattled. Parents hugged their kids a little tighter. Some wondered if they should move.
“This kind of thing doesn’t just shake a neighborhood—it scars it,” said a community member who declined to be named.
NYPD Praised for Quick Response
Despite the horror, police acted quickly. Officers neutralized the threat before more lives were lost.
“Had they not stepped in, this could’ve ended much worse,” said one official.
As investigators piece together the attacker’s motive, they are asking witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with information is urged to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers.
