Donald Trump will host a “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” at Capital One Arena in Northwest D.C. on Sunday, Jan. 19, just one day before being sworn in as the 47th U.S. President.
The event marks Trump’s first rally in Washington, D.C., since the infamous Jan. 6, 2021, gathering.
Arena Welcomes Trump Amid Controversy
Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which manages the 20,000-seat arena home to the Washington Wizards and Capitals, confirmed the event in a statement. “We have made our arena available to every administration for inaugural events, dating back decades, irrespective of party,” the spokesperson said. “We are happy that President Trump has accepted our offer and will welcome him and his guests to Capital One Arena on January 19.”
Doors for the rally will open at 11 a.m., with the event kicking off at 3 p.m. Tickets are limited to two per person and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rally Adds to D.C.’s Intensified Security Climate
The rally comes amid heightened tensions and increased security measures in the capital, following recent violent incidents nationwide. Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20 is classified as a National Special Security Event, ensuring extensive federal law enforcement oversight.
With the FBI recently releasing new footage of a suspect planting a pipe bomb near DNC offices ahead of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, the rally is expected to draw significant attention from supporters and critics alike, intensifying the already charged atmosphere leading into the inaugural week.
