A tragic incident unfolded at the Laurens County courthouse in South Carolina, where a man was reportedly run over and then shot by another man following a child visitation hearing. According to authorities, Stephen Andrew White, 32, has been charged with murder in connection to the killing that took place on Monday afternoon.
The victim, identified as Erin Lee Thomas, 34, was swiftly transported to a hospital via helicopter but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Fortunately, no other individuals at the courthouse were harmed during the altercation, and White was promptly taken into custody.
Details from Family Court records revealed that Thomas and White were involved in a child custody or visitation case, with Thomas listed as the plaintiff and White as the defendant. Further specifics regarding the nature of their dispute were not disclosed.
As of now, it remains unclear whether White has legal representation to advocate on his behalf. He is currently held in jail without the option for bond as the investigation progresses.
