LSU allows cornerback Javien Toviano to return while investigation into video voyeurism case continues

LSU starting cornerback Javien Toviano has been allowed back into the football program as he faces legal matters after being charged with video voyeurism. Toviano, originally from Arlington, Texas, participated in the team’s first practice for the upcoming season, and coach Brian Kelly mentioned that Toviano is back in football activities. Kelly emphasized Toviano’s potential as a valuable player for the team and mentioned that they will support him as he deals with his legal issues.

Details about any changes in Toviano’s legal situation are not immediately available. The case is still under review, according to East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore. Toviano’s lawyer, Philip House, has not responded to requests for comments.

The 19-year-old sophomore was arrested on July 21, following accusations of recording sexual activity with a woman without her consent. The woman reported finding videos of them on Toviano’s iPad, which were recorded using a clock with a hidden camera placed near the bed.

According to the arrest warrant, Toviano confessed to detectives during an interview that he used a concealed camera to record the encounters. He was suspended on the day of his arrest but has since been reinstated just before LSU’s practice started. During his freshman year, Toviano played in all games and started in three of the last five matches.
