Los Angeles Olympics 2028 to Introduce Exciting New Sports and Revive Traditional Events with a Modern Twist

The upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris will be passing the baton to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games. Los Angeles will offer a different backdrop compared to Paris, with the Pacific Ocean and its beaches replacing the Seine River and historic buildings. The city’s streets embody a rich history of film and television.

One of the significant changes for the Los Angeles Olympics is the introduction of new sports. Flag football, squash, and obstacle racing will make their debuts. Modern pentathlon will include obstacle racing to replace equestrian events following an incident of horse abuse in Tokyo three years ago. Lacrosse and cricket, absent for a century, will make a return in 2028 with modified, more engaging formats.

The rearranged schedule will see the Summer Games starting two weeks earlier, with an opening ceremony on July 14. The events will be spread across two stadiums – SoFi Stadium and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Track and field, traditionally held at the Coliseum, will move forward in the schedule, becoming the anchor sport for the first time.

Los Angeles aims to create a distinct Olympic experience, embracing its identity as a hub of creativity, music, and fashion. Organizers emphasize that the 2028 Games will authentically reflect Los Angeles, focusing on the future, new frontiers, and technology. Road events, such as marathons and cycling, will showcase the city’s connection to Hollywood’s cinematic history.

As Los Angeles prepares to host the Olympics in 2028, the city looks forward to offering a unique and innovative sporting spectacle that stays true to its own identity and creative spirit.
