Eagles win Super Bowl 40 : 22 – Chiefs destroyed

Eagles spoil Chiefs’ three-peat bid, win Super Bowl 40-22

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles have spoiled the Kansas City Chiefs’ bid for a three-peat, winning Super Bowl 40-22.

READ THE FULL LIVE TICKER OF THE WHOLE GAME:

EAGLES WIN: Philadelphia takes Super Bowl

It’s over. Philadelphia has won the Super Bowl, beating Kansas City 40-22 behind 221 passing yards, two passing TDs and one rushing score from quarterback Jalen Hurts.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 40, Chiefs 22

The 2-point conversion is good. It’s 40-22 with 1:48 remaining.

Worthy has eight catches for 157 yards and two scores for the Chiefs.

Earliest Gatorade bath ever? (the color was yellow)

Nick Sirianni got hit with the Gatorade with 2:52 remaining, which might be the earliest victory bath for a coach in a long time.

Also, for those betting on such things (because you could): The Gatorade was yellow.

Here’s the most recent three-peat teams in the major US pro sports

Kansas City isn’t getting it done, so there’s never been a three-peat champion in the Super Bowl era.

The most recent three-peat champions in the other major U.S. pro leagues:

Taco Bell airs customer photos for its Super Bowl spot

LeBron James and Doja Cat made brief appearances in Taco Bell’s ad for the Super Bowl this year, but the fast food chain focused on its fans who aren’t celebrities.

The ad featured nearly 400 photos of Taco Bell customers, from more than 3,000 who drove photobooth cameras at the chain’s drive-ins this past December, according to the company.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 40, Chiefs 14

The 2-point conversion is good and the Chiefs are within 26 points with 2:54 left, pretty much ensuring this won’t be the worst Super Bowl loss in the game’s history.

TOUCHDOWN: Mahomes throws to Hopkins, Chiefs score late in the 4th

Mahomes has found DeAndre Hopkins for a touchdown, with 2:54 left in the game.

Other than NFC East cities, here’s where the Eagles will visit in 2025

Philadelphia always plays NFC East rivals Dallas, Washington and the New York Giants home-and-away.

Here’s where the (soon-to-be) Super Bowl champions will also visit next season: The Eagles will play at Buffalo, Green Bay, Los Angeles (against the Chargers), Minnesota … and, yes, Kansas City.

Jake Elliott is perfect

Eagles kicker Jake Elliott had been shaky this season before the Super Bowl.

He was 28 of 36 in the regular season, making just 1 of 7 field goals from beyond 50 yards. He was 6 for 7 on field goals in the playoffs but missed three extra points.

Against the Chiefs, Elliott made his first eight kicks, including field goals of 48, 29, 48 and 50 yards.

Miami Heat will be disappointed by this result

There’s not going to be a three-peat by the Kansas City Chiefs.

And that means no big party for … the Miami Heat? Let’s explain.

Heat President Pat Riley owns some “Three-Peat” trademarks after beginning to file for them in the late 1980s, when the Los Angeles Lakers — who he was coaching at that time — were seeking three consecutive NBA titles.

Riley struck a deal with the Chiefs on three-peat usage, but there won’t be a three-peat, much to the dismay of the Heat.

“I know he’ll bring out the best wine and hopefully have a great organizational party on behalf of the great Pat Riley,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.

Heat forward Kevin Love also was hoping Riley would cash in and gift the Heat some wine after a Chiefs win. Alas, no three-peat. Maybe Riles will spring for some wine anyway.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 40, Chiefs 6

Another field goal. It’s 40-6 Eagles with 8:01 left in the Super Bowl.

Harrison Ford talks about life’s ‘owner’s manual’ for Jeep

Film legend Harrison Ford headlines the Jeep brand’s 2025 Super Bowl commercial

A two-minute ad from Jeep takes a more serious tone, enlisting Harrison Ford to talk about freedom.

No single definition emerges — and at one point, Ford says, “Freedom is yes. Or no. Or maybe.”

The actor encourages viewers to write their own “owner’s manual” of their lives.

“We won’t always agree on which way to go, but our differences will be our strength,” Ford says in the spot. He later adds: “This Jeep makes me happy, even though my name is Ford.”

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 37, Chiefs 6

Elliott has connected again on a field goal, and Philadelphia’s lead is 37-6 with 9:51 left to play.

The biggest Super Bowl blowout? A 45-point romp

The Eagles are rolling tonight, but as of now it’s not the biggest Super Bowl blowout in history.

Not even close.

The biggest Super rout was Jan. 28, 1990, when San Francisco beat Denver 55-10.

Maybe New Orleans is the city for blowout wins. That 55-10 game was also at the Superdome.

Kendrick dropped key word from ‘Not Like Us’ but kept plenty in

Kendrick Lamar’s cleaned-up-for-TV version of “Not Like Us” left out the usual slurs and swear words during his halftime performance.

He also skipped the key word “pedophile” during the ruthless Drake diss track. But he kept similar lines in the Grammy-winning song including “I hear you like ’em young” and “Tryna strike a chord and it’s prolly A minor.”

Drake, who is touring in Australia, sued the recordhe shares with Lamar over the track, calling its allegations false, inflammatory, shocking and dangerous.

Brady ‘roasts’ Kevin Hart

Kevin Hart got a lot of shots in on Tom Brady during the infamous Netflix roast of the seven-time Super Bowl winner last year.

Brady took a shot of his own during the Super Bowl.

“Kevin Hart’s here? How did the cameras find Kevin Hart?” Brady asked, making a height joke toward the rather diminutive comic.

END OF THIRD QUARTER: Eagles 34, Chiefs 6

Philadelphia is one quarter away from a Super Bowl title. The Eagles had the ball to open the fourth quarter and have a four-touchdown lead.

Jalen Hurts is 15 of 20 for 201 yards and two passing yards.

Nike, NFL spotlight women in sports in their Super Bowl ads

Nike put the spotlight on women in sports this Super Bowl — in a spot featuring Caitlin Clark, Sha’Carri Richardson, Sabrina Ionescu, Jordan Chiles, A’ja Wilson and Sophia Wilson.

The spot lists all the “cant’s” that female athletes face and encourages them to prove people wrong and “Just Do It” anyway.

“You can’t win. So win,” the ad, which is narrated by Doechii, says.

Meanwhile, in an ad after halftime, the NFL centered girls’ sports in schools. The league called for girls flag football to become a varsity sport in all 50 states.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 34, Chiefs 6

The Chiefs tried a 2-point conversion pass to Travis Kelce, but it failed. It’s 34-6 late in the third quarter.

TOUCHDOWN: The Chiefs are on the board

Xavier Worthy made a diving 24-yard catch for a touchdown and Kansas City is on the board late in the third quarter.

The odds, as you might guess, have taken a big turn

Kansas City was favored by 1.5 points entering this Super Bowl.

The current line, according to BetMGM Sportsbook: Philadelphia by 29.5.

And the money line is off the board, since the books are convinced the Eagles will win this game.

DeVonta Smith gives Alabama its first Super Bowl points ever

Alabama gets on the Super Bowl scoreboard for the first ever.

The 46-yard touchdown catch by DeVonta Smith marked the first time a player who ended his college career at Alabama scored a point in a Super Bowl. While former Crimson Tide QBs Bart Starr and Ken Stabler threw TD passes in a Super Bowl, they don’t get credit for scoring the points.

There are 144 colleges who have had a player score in a Super Bowl before the 12-time AP champion Alabama joined the list.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 34, Chiefs 0

The kick is good and the rout continues, Philadelphia now up 34-0.

TOUCHDOWN: Hurts connects with DeVonta Smith for 46-yard TD

One play, 46 yards, and this seems very over now. Jalen Hurts just found DeVonta Smith for another Philly touchdown.

Häagen-Dazs reunites ‘Fast and Furious’ stars

In typical Super Bowl fashion, the celebrity reunions during ad breaks keep coming.

Häagen-Dazs reunited “Fast & Furious” stars Michelle Rodriguez, Vin Diesel and Ludacris in its spot during the third quarter. But this time, they’re driving going slow — to enjoy the brand’s ice cream bars.

It wouldn’t be the Super Bowl without some nostalgia, and bringing former onscreen co-stars back together is a tried-and-try approach. Earlier in the night, Hellmann’s also brought back Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal’s “When Harry Met Sally” characters to enjoy another sandwich at Katz’s Deli.

Kendrick Lamar’s halftime setlist

Kendrick Lamar’s 13-minute halftime set leaned heavily on the past year, with half of the songs in his 10-song set coming from his 2024 album “GNX.” Here’s are all the songs he included:

“Squabble Up” “Humble” “DNA” “Euphoria” “Man at the Garden” “Peekaboo” “Luther featuring SZA” “All the Stars featuring SZA” “Not Like Us” “TV Off”

Review: Kendrick’s halftime performance another victory lap

“Salutations!,” the actor Samuel L. Jackson dressed as Uncle Sam introduced Kendrick Lamar at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome for the Super Bowl halftime show.

It was a powerful, commanding creative choice by the first solo hip-hop artist to ever headline the coveted slot. As if there were any doubts of the Pulitzer Prize winning rapper’s ability to put on a show.

The Associated Press’ Maria Sherman describes Lamar’s performance as a continued victory lap in her review of the performance. SZA was a previously announced guest performer and frequent Lamar collaborator.

There’s never been a Super shutout

Every team in Super Bowl history has scored at least once. Kansas City has about 20 minutes of game time left tonight to extend that streak.

The record for fewest points in a Super Bowl is three, by the Los Angeles Rams in their 13-3 loss to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots six years ago.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 27, Chiefs 0

Another field goal from Jake Elliott has pushed Philadelphia’s lead to 27-0 with 5:18 left in the third quarter. Elliott’s field goal was from 29 yards out.

Trump leaves the Super Bowl

President Donald Trump has left the Super Bowl.

His departure after halftime was expected.

Mahomes’ mother, brother and sister posed for a photo with Trump in his suite before he left.

Serena Williams brings Compton love to Kendrick’s set

Kendrick Lamar didn’t go too heavy on the guest artists during his halftime set, but brought in a surprise superstar and a bit of his hometown when Serena Williams appeared on the halftime stage.

The retired tennis great showed up as a solo side dancer in a denim jacket and skirt and blue Converse, dancing to “Not Like Us.” Williams is from Lamar’s hometown of Compton, California.

DJ Mustard, Samuel L. Jackson and SZA also made appearances.

Man runs on field with what appears to be combination Sudan/Palestine flags before security tackles him

A man appeared to unfurl some combination of the flags of Sudan and Palestine during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show, and then ran on the field with it before being dragged away by security personnel.

It was not immediately clear how the person got onto the field. The show continued without interruption and it did not seem as though the person was shown on the broadcast of Lamar’s performance.

Halftime in real time: 33 minutes — 2nd half begins

The second half is underway, 33 minutes after the final play of second quarter was run. That’s a long time for the Chiefs to think about trying to pull off a big comeback.

Eagles match 1985 Bears for first half dominance

The Philadelphia Eagles joined some elite company the way they dominated the first half.

The Eagles scored 24 points and allowed only 23 yards to the Chiefs.

The only other time a team scored more points than yards allowed in the first half of a Super Bowl came here at the Superdome in the 1985 season. Buddy Ryan’s Bears defense held New England to minus-19 yards on the way to building a 23-3 halftime lead. Chicago won the game 46-10.

Kendrick teases ‘Not Like Us’ and zigs away before zagging back

Kendrick Lamar teased his Drake diss track and huge hit “Not Like Us” before going in another direction.

“I want to perform their favorite song,” he said to a group of women, then the opening riff of “Not Like Us” played.

“Yeah that song, aw, maybe I’ll think about it,” he said. “Know what, I’ll slow it down.”

Then guest star SZA came out and they performed their slow-jam-style collaboration “Luther.”

He didn’t disappoint, though, bringing “Not Like Us,” which won him Grammys for song of the year and record of the year, just a few minutes later.

‘Uncle’ Sam Jackson opens Kendrick halftime show

Samuel L. Jackson played emcee to Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show.

“Salutations! It’s your uncle, Sam, and this is the great American game!” Jackson said done-up in red white and blue.

Lamar’s appeared crouched atop a Buick Grand National Experimental — the car his newest album, “GNX,” is named for.

Dancers wearing red, white and blue came pouring out of the Buick like a clown car and moved in sync to songs including “Humble.”

Kendrick Lamar begins halftime show

Kendrick Lamar has taken to the field for his halftime show.

He’ll be joined by guest star SZA, and if recent Super Bowls are any indication, probably other surprise guests.

So you’re saying there’s a chance: A list of Super Bowl comebacks

Take note, Chiefs Kingdom. There have been seven successful comebacks from double-digit deficits in Super Bowl history.

There’s the record for Saquon: Most yards in a full season by a RB

Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley has passed Terrell Davis for most rushing yards in a full season (meaning both regular season and playoffs).

Davis rushed for 2,476 for Denver in 1998. Barkley entered this Super Bowl with 2,447 yards. He’s got 2,478 now with the game at halftime.

Barkley tied Davis’ record with a 9-yard run with 4:49 left in the second quarter, then passed the mark with a 2-yard carry on the last snap of the first half.

HALFTIME: Eagles take 24-0 lead into the break

The Super Bowl is a blowout right now.

Jalen Hurts has completed 11 of 15 passes for 123 yards, has thrown for a touchdown and rushed for another, and Philadelphia has a 24-0 lead at the half of the Super Bowl.

Cooper DeJean had an interception return for a score (on his birthday, no less) and AJ Brown has a touchdown catch for the Eagles.

Patrick Mahomes is struggling in a big way, completing six of 14 passes for only 33 yards with two interceptions. Travis Kelce doesn’t have a catch yet and the Chiefs have become totally one-dimensional — rushing only three times for three yards so far.

OpenAI makes Super Bowl debut

AI is back in the spotlight during ad breaks this year.

ChatGPT maker OpenAI made its Super Bowl debut in a spot that asked, “what do you want to create next?”

Meanwhile, Google tapped into AI again this year by featuring Gemini Live, a tool that allows users to have real-time conversations with the tech giant’s chatbot. The ad shows a father using Gemini Live on a Pixel phone to prepare for an apparent job interview, all while showing heartfelt moments with his family.

And Meta showed off its AI-powered glasses Ray band glasses in an ad starring Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth, Kris Jenner and a $6.2 million banana art piece.

A.J. Brown showing his ‘Inner Excellence’

A.J. Brown has been attacking the Chiefs all game.

One might say he’s showing his… “Inner Excellence.”

Brown pulled out his sideline read after scoring a TD before halftime.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 24, Chiefs 0

Another extra point is good and Philadelphia is up 24-0 with 1:35 left in the first half.

TOUCHDOWN: Hurts throws TD pass to AJ Brown

The Eagles are rolling, with Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown connecting on a 12-yard TD pass.

Kendrick Lamar is on deck for halftime

Kendrick Lamar is getting ready to take the field as the halftime headliner.

He’ll be joined by guest star SZA, and if recent Super Bowls are any indication, probably other surprise guests, especially given the rapper’s penchant for collaboration.

Lamar was a guest star himself at the 2022 halftime show headlined by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. He added a dystopian note to the party atmosphere that night, with dancers in totalitarian style uniforms moving in lockstep behind him.

He’s given no specific indication of what the vibes may be like when he takes the field in a few minutes.

‘When Harry Met Sally’ reunion ad

Hellmann’s is reuniting Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal’s “When Harry Met Sally” characters to enjoy another sandwich at Katz’s Deli.

This time, the mayo makes all the difference — prompting Ryan to recreate one of the 1989 rom com’s most iconic scenes.

Sydney Sweeney chimes in with the famous line: “I’ll have what she’s having.”

Rocket Mortgage ad starts in-stadium sing-along

Rocket Mortgage used its Super Bowl spot to encourage an in-stadium sing-along.

Set to John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” the emotional ad took viewers through a range of moments of people heading home.

Then, the broadcast pivoted to the Caesars Superdome, showing that in-person audience members were also singing along.

Why are the Eagles sacking Mahomes so much?

The Eagles are taking advantage of the Chiefs’ season-long problems on the left side of their offensive line.

The Chiefs started the season with rookie Kingsley Suamataia at left tackle, but he struggled so much he was benched. Then it was Wanya Morris who got a shot at the job, but he likewise struggled and wasn’t even active for the Super Bowl.

Late in the season, the Chiefs moved All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney to tackle and put Mike Caliendo in his place. That lineup seemed to work in playoff wins over Houston and Buffalo, but the Eagles have left Thuney grasping at air as they collapse the pocket on every passing down.

Duracell batteries revive Brady

Duracell’s trick ad featured Fox Sports commentator Kevin Burkhardt and Fox analyst and former NFL star Tom Brady seeming to comment on the game, until Brady suddenly freezes.

The culprit? His “batteries” ran out and needed to be replaced by Duracell batteries with the help of brand character Duracell scientist.

Ramon Velutini, Duracell President of North America & LATAM, said they wanted to use “an element of unexpectedness” to stand out in the crowded field of advertisers.

There’s been one 17-point comeback in the NFL all season

There’s been only one successful comeback from a 17-point deficit in the NFL this season.

And it was in Week 1.

Chicago trailed Tennessee 17-0, before the Bears won 24-17.

The Chiefs are in big trouble now

The Chiefs’ comeback odds are long now.

They trail the Eagles 17-0 midway through the second quarter. In Super Bowl history, teams that trailed by more than 10 points at any point in the game are 1-43.

The one win was New England coming from 25 down to beat Atlanta 34-28 eight years ago.

‘He Gets Us’ ad returns to Super Bowl

For a third consecutive year, “He Gets Us” has returned to the Super Bowl.

The religious campaign aired an ad in the second quarter, showing a range of images of people helping or supporting one other — and a message that read, “Jesus showed us what greatness really is.”

Johnny Cash’s cover of “Personal Jesus,” a song by Depeche Mode, played throughout.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 17, Chiefs 0

The kick is good and Philadelphia is up 17-0 with 7:03 left in the first half.

TOUCHDOWN: Cooper DeJean scores on an interception return

Cooper DeJean has given Philadelphia a three-score lead, returning an interception 38 yards for a touchdown.

DeJean became the first player to score a Super Bowl TD on his birthday.

Some bad news, and good news, for Chiefs fans

Well, they’ve been here before.

The Chiefs trail Philadelphia 10-0. That’s the bad news. Here’s the good news: This is familiar Super Bowl territory for the AFC champions.

In each of their three Super Bowl wins of the Andy Reid-Patrick Mahomes era, the Chiefs trailed by exactly 10 points before rallying.

They trailed San Francisco by 10 before winning 31-20 on Feb. 2, 2020. They trailed Philadelphia by 10 before winning 38-35 on Feb. 12, 2023. And they trailed San Francisco by 10 again before winning 25-22 on Feb. 11, 2024.

There have been only seven rallies from double-digit deficits in Super Bowl history. The Chiefs have three of them. (There’s been only one from more than 10 points down, that being New England erasing a 28-3 deficit to stun the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 on Feb. 5, 2017.)

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 10, Chiefs 0

A 48-yard field goal from Eagles kicker Jake Elliott has put Philadelphia up 10-0 with 8:38 left in the second quarter.

Chiefs offense gets off to slow start in Super Bowl

Three drives and three punts for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

That’s only happened three other times with Mahomes as a starter, including a loss to New England in the 2018 AFC title game. Kansas City also did it in a loss to the Raiders on Christmas in 2023 and a Week 2 win over the Chargers in 2020.

Kansas City has tended to start slowly on offense in Super Bowls with the Chiefs scoring only 33 first-half points compared to 70 after halftime in four Super Bowl appearances.

Matthew McConaughey pitches football conspiracy for Uber Eats

Was football invented to simply sell food? Matthew McConaughey is trying to convince us that it’s all been “a conspiracy to make us hungry” from the very beginning.

In a celebrity-filled ad for Uber Eats, McConaughey makes his case to Greta Gerwig — with the help of additional cameos from Kevin Bacon, Martha Stewart, Charli XCX and YouTuber Sean Evans.

76ers update: They’re on the ground in Philly

The Philadelphia 76ers tried to follow the first quarter of the Super Bowl on their charter flight, but wi-fi was spotty. They’re on the ground in Philly now.

Chiefs get a turnover, stay within 7-0

Bryan Cook has saved Kansas City from getting into a deeper hole.

He intercepted a pass from Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts inside the Chiefs’ 5, giving Kansas City the ball back early in the second quarter. The Chiefs trail 7-0.

END OF FIRST QUARTER: Eagles 7, Chiefs 0

Jalen Hurts completed six of seven passes for 75 yards, plus ran for the only touchdown and Philadelphia leads Kansas City 7-0 after the first quarter.

The Eagles face 2nd-and-14 from the Chiefs 34 when the second quarter begins.

SCORE UPDATE: Eagles 7, Chiefs 0

The extra point is good and Philadelphia leads 7-0 with 6:15 left in the first quarter.

That 1-yard rush by Hurts made him the fifth player with four Super Bowl rushing touchdowns in a career. Emmitt Smith has the most, with five. Thurman Thomas, Franco Harris, John Elway and now Hurts all have four.

TOUCHDOWN: Hurts opens the scoring at Super Bowl

Philadelphia has struck first in the Super Bowl, with Jalen Hurts — thanks to the Eagles’ famed tush push, where the offensive line just bullies their way into the end zone and Hurts follows the crowd — scoring the game’s first touchdown.

Now it’s the Chiefs fans complaining about the officials

Kansas City appeared to get a third-down stop against Philadelphia, but Trent McDuffie was called for a personal foul for making contact with Dallas Goedert’s face mask.

Tom Brady didn’t like this call, either.

It’s not just Messi at the Super Bowl. He’s with friends

Lionel Messi isn’t the only Inter Miami star at the Super Bowl.

Teammates Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez are there with him, taking a break from the preseason before resuming training in South Florida later this week.

The group famously were all teammates at Barcelona a decade ago, before reuniting to play in MLS with Inter Miami.

Fans inside Superdome boo Taylor Swift, Ice Spice

The fans inside the Superdome booed when Taylor Swift was shown alongside Ice Spice on the big screens during a break in the first quarter.

Swift has drawn the ire of many NFL fans, who say that TV broadcasts show too much of her. She has been dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce since early last season.

Swift was shown just after the cameras panned among actors Rob McElhenney, Adam Sandler and Paul Rudd. She gave a bit of a side-eye when she realized she was getting booed on the big screens, and kind of wrinkled her nose a bit.

Dunkin’ snags first ad spot

Dunkin’ snagged the first ad spot of the game — with the Massachusetts-based chain again enlisting Ben Affleck to represent “The DunKings.”

“The DunKings” were introduced at the Super Bowl ad last year, with Affleck and stars like Tom Brady and Matt Damon showing off their Boston (and Dunkin’) pride through a boy-band like performance. But it appears the team has changed some since.

In Dunkin’s ad this year, Affleck’s brother Casey, Bill Belichick and Jeremy Strong are new members of the group.

The first big penalty of the game went in Kansas City’s favor.

The Eagles were going for it on fourth-and-2 from midfield and appeared to convert a 30-yard completion. But a flag came out for Brown putting his hand on cornerback Trent McDuffie’s face, leading to the questionable penalty.

A big topic heading into the game was perceived bias for officials in favor of the Chiefs. Commissioner Roger Goodell called it “ridiculous” but those complaints will only grow louder after that first penalty.

Fox breaks out new scorebug for Super Bowl

It’s a different look showing time and score at the bottom of your screen for the Super Bowl.

And social media isn’t loving what Fox is doing.

Fox has “KC” on one side in red, “PHI” on the other in green, with score in big white numerals. There’s also some different graphic elements than the norm as well.

Chiefs defer, 15th straight Super Bowl to open that way

For the 15th straight Super Bowl, the team that won the opening coin toss of a Super Bowl chose to defer.

Kansas City won the toss and gave Philadelphia the option to start with the ball. The Chiefs will get the ball to begin the second half.

The only team to choose to start a Super Bowl with the ball after winning the opening toss since the defer option was initiated in the 2008 season was the Saints in Super Bowl 44 against Indianapolis.9:12 pm: Chief finish the game with an impressive 50-yards touchdown – it’s 40 – 22 – Eagles win the Super Bowl

Why not earlier? The Chiefs end the game with an incredible 50-yard-touchdown pass from Mahomes to Worthy for a 40 – 22 loss with a successful 2-point-conversion again

9:08 pm: Eagles celebrate already and soak their coach Nick Sirianni with a full load of Gatorade

Still 5 minutes to go – but the Eagles celebrate their SUper Bowl win already at the sideline. They soaked already their coach Nick Sirianni with a whole bucket of Gatorade. Nick Sirianni – completely wet now – is the heroe of the night, he won the duel of the coaches against Andy Reid in an impressive way.

9:02 pm: One more touchdown for the Chiefs – 40 – 14

At least one more touchdown for the Chiefs. They shorten their debacle to 40 – 14 after a touchdown by the Chiefs offense and a successful two-point-extra

9:49 pm: Next field goal for the Eagles – it’s 40 – 6

Next field goal for the Eagles – this time from a record 65 yards. The Eagles reach now 40 points, have a record 34 points advantage and lead with 40 – 6. The Chiefs look completely desperate, frustrated, without any hope left.

9:44 pm: Mahomes sacked again – for sixth time in this game

What a complete shame for Patrick Mahomes. He is sacked for the sixth time in this game, the Eagles have the ball immediately after their field goal again. Mahomes is completely destroyed – he was never sacked so often in his career. The Eagles are on their way to their next touchdown with 8 minutes to go.

9:42 pm: Next field goal – Eagles lead now 37 – 6

Next desaster for the Chiefs. The Eagles make their next field goal ! With only 10 minutes to go Philadelphia scores the next field goal and leads now with 37 – 6

9:35 pm: Jalon Hurts is the super star of the game – Mahomes is the big disappointment

Philadelphias Quarterback Jalon Hurts is the super star of this Super Bowl. He already has thrown four touchdowns in this game – and wins all his drives in an impressive way.

Patrick Mahomes is the big disappointment – with five sacks and four interceptions he plays the worst game of his career.

9:26 pm: Chiefs make their first touchdown – it’s 34 – 6 now with only 15 minutes to go

First small hope for all Chiefs fans – The Chiefs make their first touchdown as Xavier Worthy catches a 24-yard-pass from Mahomes. But the Chiefs miss the following two-point-try als a Mahomes pass to Kelce falls incomplete. It’s 34 – 6 now – so the Eagles need FOUR MORE touchdowns now. Nothing easier than that in remaining 15 minutes?

9:21 pm: Eagles get the next touchdown and lead with 34 – 0

Follow the countdown to Super Bowl LIX between the Chiefs and Eagles in New Orleans on Sunday here on US LIVE

The Chiefs are completely destroyd now: The Eagles make their next field goal followed immediately by the next touchdown – now they lead with an incredible 34 – 0 score.

Jalon Hurts, the heroe of the game – throws a 46-yard-touchdown pss to DeVonta Smith and the Eagles have the biggest lead in the last 30 years of Superbowl history n- they lead with 34 – 0

8:26 pm: Now it’s time for Kendrick Lamar – the halftime show has a great dance choreography, but no surprises – many call it “boring”

Now it’s time for the halftime show with Kendrick Lama. He starts with a song on the hood of a Cadillac out of which come 60 dancers in red and white. Lamar performs in a Florider-Leather jacket.

The show has a very good dance choreography – but no suprises, some already call it “boring” in social media.

Many celebrities are spotted in halftime at the Superdome: Lady Gaga , visits her first Super Bowl – also spotted: Jill Biden (without Joe), Ivanka Trump (acompanying her father, who is without Melania, Baron and without Elon Musk), Jay Z with family, Kevin Costner solo, Bradley Cooper, Megan Thee Stallon, Apple-CEO Tim Cook – and Taylor Swift who is only with her family and without celeb friends in her suite.

8:18 pm: HALFTIME: What a desaster for the Chiefs – Eagles lead 24 – 0 – biggest halftime lead in Super Bowl history

What a game for Philadelphia, what a desaster for the Chiefs: The Eagles go with an completely unexpected 24-point lead into halftime. It’s the biggest halftime lead of the Superbowl history.

The Chiefs are a desaster today: Kelce has NO cathes at all in the first half, Mahomes was sacked around five times and threw three interceptions – his worst performance in years.

The Chiefs hav to make a wonder to win this game. Can Andy Reid give them a new spirit in halftime – right now the team seems to be completely frustrated.

8:12 pm: Next interception, next touchdown for Eagles – Mahomes and Chiefs destroyed

What a game – what a desaster for the Chiefs: Next touchdown by the Eagles – and Philadelphia leads now with incredible 24 – 0.

After an interception in the Chiefs own 10-yard-zone by the Eagles, Philadelphia makes the next and third touchdown in a row – this time by offensive powerhouse A. J. Brown.

The Eagles have now an incredible 24 – 0 lead – only one minute before halftime.

The Chiefs are complete destroyed – they are completely frustrated, their fans desperate. The big problem of the Chiefs is their offense and especially their quarterback Mahomes who threw three interceptions already – two of them leading to a touchdown by the Eagles.

The Chiefs are under terrible pressure now – they need a new spirit and a wonder in halftime which will be in a few seconds.

7:48 pm: Eagles on the run – Rookie DeJean make an interception and gets a 35-yard-touchdown – 17 – 0

The Eagles are on the run – and Patrick Mahomes is completely out of the game in this first half. Mahomes throws an interception on a third-and-16 from the Kansas City 24.

The rookie Cooper DeJean makes the interception and runs the ball back 38 yards for a pick six.

The Eagles have the extra point too – and lead now 17 – 0. It looks lige the Chiefs are destroyed, completely off the rails and their usualmpower play.

Nothing to see from Travis Kelce – Taylor Swift sits stone-faced in her $ 2-million suite.

No good throws from Patrick Mahome also – Kansas City has done nearly nothing in their offense til now. The Chiefs are under pressure – til now they cannot fight back.

7:40 pm: Eagles make a field goal – 10 – 0

The Eagles make it a two-score game with a field goal by Jake Elliot. Mahomes is in bad shape today, nothing to see from Travis Kelce so far. The Eagles are on the run.

7:05 pm: First touchdown by the Eagles – incredible force by Jalon Hurts – Eagles lead 7 – 0, Chiefs now under pressure

The first touchdown goes to the Eagles – after a 20-yard pass was too short, the Eagles push the ball with incredible power in the end zone – the Eagles lift their Quarterback Jalon Hurts into the end zone. An incredible forceful touchdown by the Philadelphia quarterback. The field gol is good – 7 – 0 for the Eagles.

Now the Chiefs are under pressure

6:50 pm: First drive of the Chiefs is intercepted – Mahomes fails – Eagles have the ball back

The Chiefs first drive is intercepted, Mahomes is not successfull. The ball goes back to the Eagles – Jalon Hurts can start a new drive for the Eagles

6:43 pm: Eagles start the game – but are unfortunate – after a formidable 30-yards-pass by Hurts the referees call an offensive foul – Eagles-fans outraged

Start of the game at 6:43 pm ET. Chiefs have the kickoff – Eagles have the ball first.

They start immediately with a first down, the best of the Eagles, Barkeley has the first runs. Then Jason Hurts runs himself in a third down – and the Eagles take the risk of a fourth down at the middle of the field.

The fourth down brings an incredible 30-yards pass by Jason Hurts but the referees call an offensive foul – the Eagles fans are outraged – most experts think the call was wrong. But the Eagles give in, punt the ball and the ball is with the Chiefs now.

6:35 pm: Coin toss without the president – Chiefs win the kickoff – Eagles have the ball first

Exactly before the kickoff the rain stops. First the 14 victims of the January 1 terror attack are honored and remembered – all the family members of the victims are in the stadium.

Then it’s time for the coin toss – without the president. The Chiefs win the kickoff and will start the game – that means: The Eagles will have the ball first and start the game.

The odds had predicted that the Chiefs will win the kickoff.

In the odds the Chiefs still are the favorites to win the Superdome with the smallest margin of only 1,5. The game is expected to be high-scoring with an over-under of 48,5.

6:27 pm: National Anthem in a jazz version performed by John Batiste – with Trump saluting in his suite

5 minutes before the kickoff it’s time for “America the Beautiful” and the National Anthem. “America the Beautiful” was performed in swinging New Orleans style, the National Anthem was performed by 7 time Grammy winner and New Orleans “maestro” John Batiste – in a jazz-version.

Trump saluted from his suite – on his side only daughter Ivanka, in a white dress.

The Superdome is filled til the last seat – the cheapest tickets were $ 2.600 the most expansives were $ 20.000. The suites went for $ 700.000 to

6:10 pm: Big celebration on the field with 100-member New Orleans marching band

he big celebration before the kickoff is on the way – with a 100-member New Orleans marching band. It is raining heavily in New Orleans before the kickoff.

A lot of celebrities are in the Superdome: President Trump with his daughter Ivanka (but without Melania, Barron and Elon Musk), Taylor Swift, Jay-Z with his whole family, Brandon Cooper, Lionel Messi.

Most remarkable moment: The Chiefs were booed by New Orleans and Philadelphia fans – who are the big majority – during their warm up.

Taylor Swift in the Superdome

5:50 pm: Taylor Swift is in the suite – dressed all in white

Now Taylor Swift is also at the stadium – dressed in a white costume with only very little make up, and no signature red lips. She is in a huge suite which Travis Kelce rented for more than $ 2 million with the whole Kelce family and her mother

5:45 pm: Trump arrives at Superdome – he goes immediately to the field and greets the crowd with his fist bump – standing ovations – he predicts: “The Chiefs will win!”

Donald Trump arrived at the Superdome exactly at 5:40 pm as planned. He immediately took to the field and greeted the crowd with his legendary fist bump – with big ovations by the 125.000.

Trump is dressed with his trademark red tie and a dark suit. As far as we see by now he is accompanied by his daughter Ivanka – til now there is no Melania in sight.

After the greeting from the field Trump went to his presidential suite.

In a pre-game interview aired on FOX at the same time Trump predicted: “The Chiefs will win!” To understand his bet you have to know that he hates the Eagles because they did not show up for a White House celebration in the first Trump presidency.

The Secret: Travis Kelce already is preparing the vicotory party for the Chiefs – and ordered champagne for $ 200.000 and 50 Rolex watches

This is the best kept secret of the Super Bowl: Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have planned – with the help of Taylor Swift – a wild and huge Super Bowl Winning-Party for the Chiefs after the game.

Kelce ordered already champagne for the incredible amount of $ 200.000, Mahomes ordered cigars for $ 11.000 in addition in 20 cartons.

The incredible champagne order of Kelce includes: 35 bottles of the luxury brand Armand De Brignac, 25 bottles of Roederer Cristal and in addition 25 bottles of Armand De Brignac Ace of Spades Rose.

Incredible: Kelce ordered 50 luxury watches of Rolex – one for each member of the Chiefs.

The big question: What happens with the champagne and the Rolex watches when the Chiefs lose today?

Star studded Super Bowl Tailgate Concert with Post Malone starts at 3:00 pm – Malone headlined Fanatics party already last night – Dozens of superstar-parties rocked New Orleans yesterday

Post Malone, Travis Scott, Latto perform at star-studded, invite-only Fanatics Super Bowl party

The biggest tailgate party of Super Bowl Sunday starts at 3:00 pm at the Superdome. It will be a huge concert with Post Malone as headliner.

Post Malone already took the Fanatics Super Bowl party stage last night. Meek Mill set the tone: After an energetic performance of “Dreams and Nightmares,” the rapper draped an arm around Michael Rubin and gave him ultimate credit for another stellar event.

“He puts on the best parties,” Meek told the star-studded, invite-only crowd on Saturday, the day before the Super Bowl. He was part of a powerhouse lineup that included Post Malone, Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, Latto and Ciara.

“Keep doing your thing,” Meek Mill said.

Rubin’s party has become a highly desirable affair. While the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are the main attraction in New Orleans, he’s mastered the art of mixing business, pleasure and exclusivity, making his invite-only event the toughest event to enter during Super Bowl week.

“We want people to meet each other and find great business,” said Rubin, who admitted to personally reviewing every name on the guest list and said about 1,000 people attended the party.

“That’s what this is all about,” he said. “We’ve never sold a ticket. This is purely about saying ‘Thank you’ to the people who are really important to us. … We want to make sure the incredible for everyone.”

The event brought in a long list of big name entertainers and athletes such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Serena Williams, Megan Thee Stallion, Zac Effron, Angel Reese, Pete Davidson, Donald Trump Jr., Robert Kraft, Shaquille O’Nea l, Justin Jefferson, Joe Burrow, Teyana Taylor, Kevin Costner, QuavoRussell Wilson, Lil Baby, Bill Belichick, E-40 and Jayden Daniels.

When performers hit the stage, many of the A-listers gave their attention to them. They watched their favorite artists perform their biggest hits including Latto’s “Big Mama,” Sexyy Red’s “Fat Juicy & Wet” and Don Toliver’s “Bandit.”

Travis Scott stood behind the DJ booth and sang along to their songs.

Ciara sang several jams from “Level Up” to “One, Two Step” before bringing out Ludacris to perform “Oh,” a song the tandem released in 2004.

“This Fanatics event is just incredible,” she said.

Other parties of last night were the Sports Illustrated party at Mardi Gras World, the Maxim Party with Timberland, a big Nike party with NFL stars from the LA Rams and the New Orleans Saints and the Smirnoff Tailgate party with Flo Rider.

Donald Trump will arive at the Super Bowl 30 minutes before Kickoff

LATEST: Trump spends his weekend in Mar-a-Lago, flies to New Orleans only one hour before the game

Donald Trump is not spending the Super Bowl-weekend in New Orleans as expected – instead he spends the first free weekend since taking over the White House in his estate Mar-a-Lago in Florida. Trump will leave Mar-a-Lago only for the game on Sunday afternoon.

Trump flew into Palm Beach / Florida already on Friday late afternoon at 5:00 pm and spent Friday evening and the whole Saturday at his private palace.

Trump will not leave Mar-a-Lago before 3 pm on Sunday

He will also spend Sunday morning and lunch at Mar-a-Lago and is expected to depart for New Orleans not before 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon.

The flight to New Orleans from Palm Beach on the Airforce One will take less than an hour – Trump will drive in a huge motor caravan from the airport directly to the stadium, accompanied by more than 100 officers, secret service agents and even helicopters.

He will arrive in the New Orleans Superdome approximately 30 minutes in front of the kickoff – and watch the game from one of the biggest suites in the stadium.

Trump will be accompanied by Melania and son Barron

Trump is expected to be accompanied by his wife Melania and his son Barron who are already with him at Mar-a-Lago since Friday.

He will be part of the winning ceremony at the end of the game, congratulating the winning team (which he hopes will be the Chiefs with a handshake by Mahomes and Kelce, maybe even with Taylor Swift) – and then fly back with the Airforce One directly to Washington DC.

The pre-game interview on Fox with Bret Baier, which will air between 5:30 and 6:00 pm ET, was already pre-recorded in Florida at his home in Mar-a-Lago on Saturday afternoon.

Chiefs won the Super Bowl trophy already 55 years ago

Chiefs aim to make history in city where they won their first Super Bowl

Chiefs won their first Super Bowl in New Orleans on January 11 in 1970 – 55 years ago.

Led by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, and with a celebrity fan base that includes Taylor Swift and Caitlin Clark, the Chiefs were chasing an unprecedented third consecutive Lombardi Trophy.

The fact was not lost on Lamar Hunt that they were trying to make history in the same city where they won their first Super Bowl with a 23-7 victory over the Vikings on Jan. 11, 1970.

In fact, Hunt seemed to view the coincidence as something closer to kismet, a point that he underscored by pointing out that the Chiefs spent this week practicing at Tulane University.

“I hate to say I don’t have any memories from that Super Bowl,” says Lamar Hunt, “but getting to go to Tulane where we’re training and being literally a stone’s throw from the old stadium where we won Super Bowl IV is really special.

“I always think about my parents Super Bowl week,” Hunt added, “There’s no way not to. But this one is going to be special.”

There’s an argument to be made that nobody had a greater influence on the big game than Lamar Hunt.

The oil magnate was part of the “Foolish Club” that founded the AFL, back when they were being kept out of the NFL, and he was instrumental in the merger years later that ultimately brought the two professional football leagues together.

In a letter to NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, Hunt mused about the pending title game, saying: “I have kiddingly called it the ‘Super Bowl,’ which obviously can be approved upon.” He was inspired by the must-have Christmas gift of the year that his wife, Norma, had gotten Clark Hunt and the rest of the kids: the Super Ball, made by toy company Wham-O.

Lamar Hunt regularly attended the Super Bowl, though he never saw his Chiefs play in it again. They wouldn’t make it back until Andy Reid arrived in town, and Mahomes and Kelce helped Kansas City beat the 49ers in February 2020 — five full decades after they triumphed over the “Purple People Eaters” and the rest of the Vikings at Tulane Stadium.

Norma Hunt continued to attend the Super Bowl until her death in June 2023. At the time, she was one of four people — and the only woman — who had attended every game, beginning with the Chiefs’ loss to the Packers on Jan. 15, 1967.

The Chiefs are back Sunday for the fifth time in six years. And they are chasing a three-peat against the Eagles, the team Kansas City beat a couple of years ago in Glendale, Arizona, to win the first of its back-to-back championships.

“I would say every Chiefs fan is spoiled, and that includes me, right? Because it has been such a special five or six years,” Hunt told a small group of local reporters this week. “And I think we know we’re spoiled because of the journey that it took to get to this point, and the five decades we went without getting back to the Super Bowl.”

This is the 11th time that New Orleans has played host to the big game, tying Miami for the most of any city. The French Quarter had been packed all week with fans wearing Chiefs red and Eagles green, creating a kaleidoscope of Christmas colors stretching from Jackson Square to Canal Street, and bubbling all the way up to the Superdome.

The home of the Saints, and the de facto replacement for Tulane Stadium, is hosting the game for the eighth time.

“I don’t think any of us really could have dreamed it being like this, and having the success we’ve had,” Clark Hunt said. “My dad would have loved it because in his heart, he was a fan — him and my mom were fans, first and foremost. And he would love it for our fans, because that was always a focus of his.”

Eagles and Chiefs share their secrets and their advice of their Super Bowl experiences

With the Kansas City Chiefs gearing up for their third Super Bowl in as many seasons and the Philadelphia Eagles returning for their second in three years, Sunday will showcase a myriad of players who have big game experience.

From relaxing, to hydrating, to having fun — but not too much fun — players on both sides shared what they would go back and tell themselves about playing in the Super Bowl before their first appearance in the big game.

___

THE SECRETS O THE CHIEFS

PATRICK MAHOMES, quarterback: “We won that first one but I felt I came out too anxious, a little too pumped up, so more than anything just play the game that you love the way you’ve always played it and that will be enough.”

JAYLEN WATSON, cornerback: “Just chill, don’t get too high too early, it’s a long week, don’t wear yourself out, it’s an exciting week.”

NICK BOLTON, linebacker: “The ebbs and flows, the highs and lows of the game, I would’ve let myself know that. It’s such an emotional game, the game goes up and down.”

JUSTIN REID, safety: “Just, throughout the week, try and enjoy the experience a little bit more. I’ve had some fun but you want to make sure with your first Super Bowl that you play well. Secondly, it’s just being prepared for how long the game is. That was different, the extended warmup, instead of a three-hour game it’s a five-hour game, it’s a 30-minute halftime so just having a great plan for that.”

GEORGE KARLAFTIS, defensive end: “It’s just a game. It’s the same game you’ve been playing 19 times that season. Same game, same time, all that stuff.”

HARRISON BUTKER, kicker: “There were a lot of nerves and anxious feelings the entire two weeks and especially the week leading up to the Super Bowl. I remember getting to the game and just feeling exhausted from all of the pressure that felt like it was on my shoulders.”

CREED HUMPHREY, center: “Just enjoy the moment, it’s hard to get to this game, just enjoy everything you can, don’t take it for granted. Enjoy the moment but focus on the mission.”

LEO CHENAL, linebacker: “We’ve had this group of guys that I’ve been around since my first season and we’ve had the experience of getting to places like this and going far in the playoffs. I would tell myself to not get wrapped up in off the football field. You have to appreciate the spectacle of where we are but don’t get wrapped up in it.”

THE SECRETS OF THE EAGLES

AJ BROWN, wide receiver: “Focus on the game.”

DARIUS SLAY, cornerback: “I would tell myself to not warm up as much, as fast. I was energized and ready to go and not knowing I got to go back in the locker room and sit there for another 45 minutes. I had to re-warm up so I have to pace myself, a lot more stretching because of the halftime show which feels like an hour long so I don’t wanna get tight so I have to make sure I’m loose and ready to go.”

DEVONTA SMITH, wide receiver: “Just go out there and be you.”

REED BLANKENSHIP, safety: “Have fun, embrace it, don’t get caught up in the lights. It’s another game, we get to play football. It’s the biggest stage in football and the world and it’s an honor to play in it.”

DALLAS GOEDERT, tight end: “Dreams are coming true. Do everything you can to help the team win because winning is the most important thing.”

LANDON DICKERSON, center: “Don’t ride the waves. There’s gonna be a lot of good times and a lot of bad times. Stay level-headed and keep playing.”

LANE JOHNSON, offensive tackle: “Probably hydrate a little more. I was pretty tired out there.”

Chiefs coach Andy Reid is going for his third consecutive super bowl win

Eagles – Chiefs Super Bowl: It’s a matchup of the oldest and brightest coaches of the NFL

Andy Reid and Matt Nagy vs. Vic Fangio. Nick Sirianni and Kellen Moore vs. Steve Spagnuolo – the beste coaches of the NFL go for the Trophy on Sunday.

This Super Bowl is a matchup of some of the brightest — and oldest — minds in the NFL. Reid and Fangio are 66. Spagnuolo is 65.

When the Kansas City Chiefs (17-2) go for a three-peat in a rematch against the Eagles (17-3) on Sunday, the game will come down to what Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones and teammates do on the field against Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Jalen Carter and the rest of Philadelphia’s talented roster.

But it starts with the coaches and the coordinators and their schemes. They have to devise the correct game plan and make the best play calls.

The Chiefs were in the middle of the pack in offense this season, ranking 16th in total yards. But Reid has been an offensive mastermind for three decades and Mahomes is always capable of making some magic, especially on the biggest stage.

They’ll face off against Fangio, who inherited one of the league’s worst units and turned it into the No. 1 defense in the NFL in his first season in Philadelphia.

The Eagles had the second-best rushing offense thanks to Barkley’s historic season and Hurts has A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith so the passing attack is potent despite finishing 29th.

They have to find a way against Spagnuolo, who came up with the perfect plan to prevent the Patriots from a perfect season 17 years ago. Spagnuolo won his first ring as a defensive coordinator for the Giants and has won three more with the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs celebrates

Chiefs vs Eagles: Who is better in Offense and Defense?

Which team is the favorite – in the offense and in the defense?

When the Eagles have the ball: Barkley is the man to watch

Barkley. Barkley. Barkley. The AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year has 2,447 combined yards rushing and 18 TDs, including seven scores of 60-plus yards. Everything starts with him. He’s been spectacular this season and can take it the distance every time he touches the ball. But the Eagles have plenty more fire power. Hurts is a threat to run, which helps keep defenses guessing and that helped Barkley become the best home run hitter in the NFL.

Despite pedestrian passing stats, Hurts has been productive. He takes care of the ball, tossing just five interceptions and only one in his past 15 games. He had a 103.7 passer rating and had big passing games when the Eagles needed him against the Commanders in the NFC championship game and Steelers in mid-December.

Brown is an elite receiver, even when he’s reading a book on the sideline. Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert are top targets for Hurts, too.

The key to Philadelphia’s success on offense is one of the top lines in the NFL led by tackles Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.

Spagnuolo can make things difficult even for the best teams. Tom Brady, Randy Moss and the Patriots found out almost two decades ago in the Super Bowl.

Buffalo’s Josh Allen got another taste of it in the AFC championship game when Spagnuolo sent a corner blitz on fourth-and-5 with the game on the line.

Kansas City’s defense finished ninth overall, allowing the fourth-fewest points.

Jones is an All-Pro interior lineman, edge George Karlaftis led the team with eight sacks and defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton had 6 1/2. Cornerback Trent McDuffie was a second-team All-Pro. The McDuffie-Brown matchup could be a classic.

Protecting Hurts will be crucial for Philadelphia, though he has the ability to escape and scramble for long gains.

Sirianni turned the offense over to Moore, a first-year Eagles coordinator likely coaching his last game with Philadelphia. Moore is expected to become the head coach for the Saints.

When the Chiefs have the ball: Mahomes is the ultimate master

The Chiefs had the league’s 14th-ranked passing offense behind Mahomes and 22nd-ranked rushing attack. The Eagles were No. 1 overall and against the pass, 10th against the run and second best in scoring.

Mahomes is 8-0 against Fangio’s defenses. But teams that were first in defense are 10-2 in the Super Bowl since 1970.

Mahomes is a master at making plays and finding ways to win games, especially close ones. He had subpar numbers by his standards — 3,928 yards, 26 TDs, 11 interceptions and a 93.5 rating.

Kelce, despite a drop-off in the regular season, is a prime-time player in the postseason. And, Mahomes has DeAndre Hopkins, Marquise Brown and first-round pick Xavier Worthy. Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco are effective runners.

All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney and All-Pro center Creed Humphrey anchor the offensive line along with right guard Trey Smith. Thuney is playing left tackle.

They’ll be tasked with keeping Carter and edge Nolan Smith away from Mahomes. Brandon Graham, whose strip-sack of Brady sealed Philadelphia’s only Super Bowl victory seven years ago, could be back to bolster the rush.

All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun will play an important role against Mahomes and rookie slot cornerback Cooper DeJean going against Kelce could determine the game. Cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Darius Slay give Philadelphia a top tandem against the pass.

Reid is creative and not afraid to add different wrinkles. Fangio disguises coverages and aims to take away big plays.

Mahomes was under constant pressure in his only Super Bowl loss to Tampa Bay four years ago. The Eagles have to make him uncomfortable to have a chance.

Special teams: Chiefs have the better kicker

Eagles kicker Jake Elliott has been shaky this season. He was 28 of 36 in the regular season, making just 1 of 7 field goals from beyond 50 yards. He’s 6 for 7 on field goals in the playoffs but has missed three extra points.

Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker hit the game-winning field goal against the Eagles two years ago in the Super Bowl and hit a tying field goal to force overtime last year. He was 21 of 25 on field goals in the regular season and missed two extra points. He is 9 for 9 on kicks in the playoffs.

The Eagles averaged 9.2 yards on punt returns and 26.5 on kick returns.

The Chiefs averaged 9.9 yards on punt returns and 27.1 on kick returns.

Coaching: Andy Reid is the legend – but Siranni just keeps winning

Sirianni was thought to be coaching for his job this season and the fickle folks in Philly were calling for him to be fired at 2-2. But he just keeps winning. He has the fifth-best winning percentage in NFL history and is the only coach in franchise history to reach the Super Bowl twice.

Reid will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame after he retires. He already has three Super Bowl rings and is the winningest coach in the history of the Chiefs and Eagles.

Intangibles: Mahomes is chasing Brady

The Eagles came close two years ago and know anything less than winning a Lombardi trophy won’t be considered a success in Philadelphia. They’re not satisfied with getting here.

The Chiefs are aiming to become the first team in the Super Bowl era to three-peat. Reid and Mahomes are chasing Bill Belichick and Brady while they have to win three more Super Bowls to match them.

Taylor Swift spends Friday night on a date with Kelce – is Kelce not “focused” enough

Taylor Swift is in New Orleans already: She flew in on Friday and started her Superbowl-countdown with a double date: Together with her big love Travis Kelce and Patrick and Britney Mahomes Taylor Swift went to an intimiate dinner on Friday night.

NFL fans question on Social Media if Travis Kelce is feeling too complacent about tomorrow’s Super Bowl after he broke his own rules to head out on this double date with Taylor Swift and the Mahomes’.

Last year before the big game in Las Vegas, Kelce shared his strong views on whether or not a player should head out and about in the build-up to the season finale.

Speaking to millions of listeners on his New Heights podcast, the Chiefs star told his brother Jason: ‘We’ve got one week, we do what we need to do then we can party in Vegas for the rest of our lives.’.

Is Kelce not “focused” enough on the big game with Swift on his side ?

But one year on Kelce has been spotted out for dinner with his girlfriend Swift, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany – less than 48 hours before the biggest game of his career.

Social media was flooded with opinions on the surprise outing in New Orleans, with one fan labeling Kelce ‘unfocused’.

Another added: ‘Bad look. Kelce supposed to be locked in and watching film. I’m sure that outing could have waited.’

A third person said: ‘Normally the players do not go out the week before they are playing in the Super Bowl because of how seriously they take the game, or so I’m told. Even saw an old clip of that Kelce guy saying that.’

Pictures emerged late on Friday night of the superstar quartet leaving Lilette, a popular restaurant on New Orleans’ Magazine Street.

After word got out of their visit, hundreds of fans had gathered outside, creating a raucous atmosphere as the players and their other halves left to get into cars after their meal.

The images were also the first of Taylor Swift since she touched down in New Orleans for the big game. It comes a year after she endured a mad dash from her Eras Tour show in Tokyo to Las Vegas on the day of the game.

Swift says: “I don’t want to be in the center of the attention!”

This year it appears she is able to take in more of the big game buildup, spending a few days in the city before she is joined by a host of celebrity friends in the Superdome’s VIP suitesd with fans of all ages.

On Friday night, the pop superstar wore a black dress with matching Larroude Eleonor boots, carrying a bag over her right shoulder

Friday night’s night out in NOLA comes just days after reports claimed Swift is ‘worried’ that her presence in the city could deflect from Kelce and the Chiefs’ Super Bowl three-peat aims.

According to The Sun, Swift wants the game – and the build-up to it – to be all about Kelce and his team, especially if they make history.

‘Taylor doesn’t want to be the center of attention,’ a source was quoted as saying. ‘She just wants to support Travis and help him focus on the game.

‘She wants Travis to enjoy his Super Bowl week experience and be at 110% for Sunday, as she is dreaming about him making Super Bowl history and reaching another dream of his, winning another Super Bowl and making a three-peat.’

Chiefs team is staying in the hotel Mariott at Canal Street – Swift has to stay out

It is unclear whether Swift – and indeed Brittany Mahomes – will see their men again before Sunday, with the players all staying together in a hotel.

The Chiefs team are staying at the New Orleans Marriott on Canal Street, right in the heart of the city and just one mile away from the 83,000-seater Superdome where Sunday’s game will take place.

At Friday night’s meal, a beaming Swift looked in fine spirits as she made her way out of the venue in a black dress and matching boots alongside Kelce, despite her die-hard legion of fans being left outraged by his glowing remarks about Trump this week.

The president, who controversially said he ‘hates’ Taylor in September amid her support for his election rival Kamala Harris, will be at the Superdome for the game.

And when asked for his thoughts on Trump attending Sunday’s game, Kelce gushed to reporters that it will be an ‘honor’ to play in front of him despite his bad blood with Swift.

‘That’s awesome. It’s a great honor,’ the Chiefs tight end responded to reporters after being told Trump will be there for the big game.

‘I think you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool.’

Over the years, Meers’ commitment went beyond the stadium. He made countless appearances at schools, hospitals, and community events, bringing smiles to children and adults alike. His role as K.C. Wolf allowed him to connect with fans on a personal level, turning him into a beloved figure throughout Kansas City.

But Meers’ journey wasn’t without challenges. In 2013, during a rehearsal for a bungee jump stunt at Arrowhead Stadium, Meers’ safety equipment malfunctioned, causing him to plummet 75 feet. The accident resulted in a broken back, shattered ribs, and a collapsed lung. It was a life-threatening injury that could have ended his career—or worse.

However, Meers’ resilience shone through. After months of grueling rehabilitation and with the support of his family, friends, and the Chiefs organization, he made a remarkable recovery. His return to the field wasn’t just a personal victory; it was a testament to his determination and the deep bond he shared with the Chiefs community.

Throughout his career, Meers used his platform to inspire others. He became a motivational speaker, sharing his story of perseverance, faith, and the importance of finding joy in every situation. His message resonated with audiences far beyond the football field, turning him into a symbol of hope and positivity.

In addition to his speaking engagements, Meers authored a book, “Wolves Can’t Fly,” detailing his life as K.C. Wolf and the lessons he learned along the way. The book provided fans with an inside look at the man behind the mascot, revealing the dedication and passion that fueled his performances.

Despite the physical demands and occasional risks of being a mascot, Meers continued to embrace his role with unwavering enthusiasm. His performances evolved over the years, incorporating new stunts, comedic routines, and interactive elements that kept fans engaged and entertained. His ability to adapt and innovate ensured that K.C. Wolf remained a beloved figure for generations of Chiefs fans.

As the Chiefs experienced ups and downs on the field, including their historic Super Bowl LIV victory in 2020, K.C. Wolf was there, rallying the fans and celebrating every triumph. Meers’ presence became synonymous with the Chiefs’ identity, a constant source of joy and unity for the team and its supporters.

Now, after 35 years of embodying K.C. Wolf, Dan Meers’ legacy is firmly cemented in Chiefs history. His dedication to entertaining fans, his resilience in the face of adversity, and his commitment to spreading positivity have made him a cherished figure not just in Kansas City, but in the hearts of football fans everywhere.

As Meers looks to the future, his impact as K.C. Wolf will continue to be felt. Whether through his motivational speaking, community involvement, or the countless memories he created on the field, Dan Meers’ story is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the joy of bringing smiles to others.

For Chiefs fans, K.C. Wolf isn’t just a mascot—he’s a symbol of the spirit and heart that define Kansas City. And behind that symbol stands Dan Meers, a man whose 35-year journey has left an indelible mark on the Chiefs’ legacy and the lives of countless fans.

Trump on the way to the Super Bowl: The president loves and praises Travis Kelce

President Donald Trump is gearing up for Super Bowl LIX with a bold claim, declaring Sunday’s game will showcase “the best tight end in football (Ever!).” His remark is widely believed to reference Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, despite Trump’s past criticism of Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Just four months ago, Trump lashed out on Truth Social, writing, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” after she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

Kelce is keeping things diplomatic when discussing Trump’s presence at the game. “It’s a great honor, I think no matter who the President is. I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life and having the President there, it’s the best country in the world so it’s pretty cool,” he said.

Trump is set to make history as the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl in person. He also plans to revive the tradition of presidents delivering a pre-game address, something both Joe Biden and Trump skipped in the past. The annual interview, a tradition since President George W. Bush in 2004, will return this year on Fox.

Why Eagles fans believe, the Eagles will win the superbowl

Why will the Eagles win the Super Bowl? Start with ‘super’ Saquon Barkley and end with the offense

Saquon Barkley is for most Philadelphia fans the most important reason why the Eagles will win the Superbowl on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He set the franchise season record for yards rushing. He’s the ninth 2,000-yard rusher in NFL history. He has seven (postseason included) touchdown runs of 60-plus yards and is one of only two players in NFL history with at least 400 yards rushing and five touchdowns in a single postseason.

Go on?

OK. Barkley is 30 yards shy of breaking the NFL season rushing record, postseason included, set by Terrell Davis in 1998 with the Denver Broncos. Barkley has 2,447 yards (442 in the playoffs); Davis had 2,476 yards and led the Broncos to the Super Bowl title.

On Sunday, his 28th birthday, Barkley will hold the rushing record — and hoist the Lombardi Trophy.

Barkley is the singular difference-maker — the game-breaker and sensational play-maker — the Eagles did not have two years ago when they lost 35-33 to Kansas City in the Super Bowl.

Barkley has steamrolled through the postseason and led the Eagles to 17 total wins, a division title and the NFC championship crown. He makes this version of the Eagles superior to the 2022 team and even better — so far — than the 2017 team, which won the franchise’s only Super Bowl with backup quarterback Nick Foles.

Consider, against Kansas City in the Super Bowl, Jalen Hurts was the team’s leading rusher with 70 yards and the Eagles had just 115 yards rushing overall.

Barkley could hit that number by halftime.

Eagles offense is based on quarterback Hurts

While Hurts isn’t at the level of Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes, he did shine in their first Super Bowl matchup. Hurts delivered a record performance in the Super Bowl, throwing for 304 yards and a touchdown, running for 70 yards and three scores, and adding a game-tying 2-point conversion.

Hurts is trying to become the fourth quarterback to win the Super Bowl as a starting quarterback after losing his first Super Bowl start.

The Eagles also set an NFL record for most yards rushing in a season with 3,731 in the regular season and playoffs. The Eagles have a chance to break their own record for most touchdown runs in a season. They have 39 heading into the Super Bowl — three shy of the mark they set in the 2022 season.

Eagles defense is one of the best in the league

Barkley isn’t the only new face from the last Super Bowl matchup creating havoc on the field.

The ninth-overall pick in the 2023 draft, defensive tackle Jalen Carter, flourished this season with five sacks, 53 QB pressures, 12 QB hits, five batted passes and two forced fumbles.

Led by Carter, the Eagles have three of the top eight and four of the top 22 interior pass rushers in the NFL this season.

Here are some more numbers that might force Mahomes to take one last look at the film to get a bead on just how great the Eagles defense has played this season.

The Eagles led the NFL in total defense at 278.4 yards per game for the seventh time in franchise history. The Eagles ranked No. 1 in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game (174.2) for the second time in the last three years. Oh, and the Eagles are plus-27 in turnover differential from Week 8 through the postseason.

The other new face who made all the difference won’t be found on the player roster.

At 66, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has incorporated eight new starters into a defense that ranked near the bottom of the NFL in 2023 and turned it into one of the league’s best as the Eagles led the NFL in advanced efficiency metrics.

Fangio has been integral in the defensive rebuild in Philadelphia. He saw enough in free agent Zack Baun to turn him from a special teams player, who got limited time on defense as an outside rusher in New Orleans, into an All-Pro inside linebacker and finalist for AP Defensive Player of the Year in Philadelphia.

He also helped incorporate two rookie starters into the secondary in Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, which played a big part in the turnaround.

One major blemish is on Fangio’s resume, however: His 0-8 record against Mahomes as a head coach in Denver and coordinator in Miami.

Special teams

Here is where the Eagles could run into trouble if the Super Bowl runs down to the last play — and it’s the Chiefs, so that comeback drama is very much a real option.

Once so reliable he was nicknamed “Jake the Make,” Jake Elliott had the worst season of his career. He missed eight field goals in the regular season, and went only 1 for 7 from beyond 50-plus yards. He missed a combined three extra points in the playoffs and another field goal from beyond 50.

“I don’t think Jake really dwells on it. That’s the great thing,” special teams coach Michael Clay said. “He’s the kind of guy that, almost like a golfer’s mindset, you will hit a bad shot here as a golfer, but how do you bounce back from it? His mental is so strong. I’m never too worried about him. He’ll flush it after the first one.”

Elliott made all three extra points and was successful on both field goals (of 35 and 33 yards) against Kansas City in the Super Bowl.

Harrison Butker has stayed at the top his game for Kansas City. One of the most accurate kickers in the NFL, he kept Kansas City in the Super Bowl last year against San Francisco with a trio of field goals, including a 57-yarder in the third quarter, before his 29-yarder at the end of regulation forced overtime. Kansas City went on to win, 25-22. He kicked the winner with 8 seconds left to beat the Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Expect Super Bowl victory celebrations to look different after last year’s deadly shooting

Expect more security — and nerves — at this year’s Super Bowl victory celebration regardless of who wins Sunday’s matchup in New Orleans between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

shooting that killed one person and wounded about two dozen others marred last year’s Chiefs victory rally, and a Philadelphia Eagles fan died last month after falling from a light pole while celebrating the team’s NFC championship victory.

Kansas City plans to boost its police presence if the Chiefs win a third-straight title, and Philadelphia might grease its poles to thwart climbers if the Eagles win. New Orleans, which was the scene of a New Year’s Daytruck-ramming attack and which is hosting the Super Bowl, plans to block some traffic routes.

“There’s a lot of people that’ll think twice about attending an event like that,” fan Branson Albertson said Thursday as he, his wife and their kids posed for photos inside Kansas City’s Chiefs-bedecked Union Station, near where last year’s shooting happened.

“But I still think there’ll be a big turnout,” he added.

Events like victory parades present unique challenges because they are open, unpredictable and draw large crowds, said Alex del Carmen, an associate dean of the school of criminology at Tarleton State University in Texas.

Last year, Chiefs players were jumping off floats to give fans high-fives as buses filled with the team wound through packed downtown Kansas City. Some of that would likely change this year regardless of where the celebration is held, he said.

Other sports celebration in the U.S. also have ended in gun violence, including a shooting that injured several people in 2023 in downtown Denver after the Nuggets’ NBA championship, and gunfire in 2023 at a parking lot near the Texas Rangers’ World Series parade.

All of these incidents are studied carefully, Del Carmen said.

“What we can do is learn from the past and hopefully last year’s lessons were very, very vivid in the minds of those that are going to be planning these next events,” said del Carmen, who recruited students to help with security when the Super Bowl was played in Arlington, Texas, in 2011.

Pro Picks: Eagles defeat Chiefs in Super Bowl, but in the odds Chiefs win by smallest margin

The Kansas City Chiefs have been unstoppable this season whenever Taylor Swift is in attendance to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Additionally, Patrick Mahomes has never lost a game against Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Historically, all four Super Bowl rematches that have taken place within five years have been won by the team that emerged victorious in the first meeting. Despite these factors, the Chiefs are only 1.5-point favorites against the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday’s Super Bowl, according to BetMGM Sportsbook.

The reason? The two-time defending champion Chiefs (17-2) haven’t faced a team as formidable as the Eagles (17-3) this season. Led by stars like Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, and A.J. Brown, the Eagles boast one of the most explosive offenses in the league. Under Fangio’s leadership, they also possess the NFL’s top-ranked defense.

“They play together exceptionally well. That’s what makes Vic Fangio’s defense so effective—everyone has a role, and they all have to execute their jobs for the unit to succeed,” said Mahomes, who remains undefeated (8-0) against Fangio-coached defenses. “It’s going to be a tough challenge. We’ll need to stay patient and capitalize on the few opportunities we get because they won’t give us many.”

No team has ever achieved a three-peat in the Super Bowl era, and only the Chiefs have had the chance to do so. Of the eight teams that won back-to-back Super Bowls, none made it to a third consecutive championship game. The Green Bay Packers came close, winning the NFL championship in 1965 and the first two Super Bowls, but fell short of a three-peat.

The Chiefs are 9-0 this season when Swift attends their games. Adding to the spectacle, former President Donald Trump will be in attendance at the Superdome, marking the first time a sitting or former president has attended a Super Bowl.

“That’s incredible. It’s a huge honor,” Kelce said on Wednesday. “No matter who the president is, I’m excited because this is the biggest game of my life. Having the president there is a testament to how great this country is. It’s going to be pretty special.”

However, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and the Eagles are determined to spoil Kansas City’s celebration. Hurts nearly led the Eagles to victory against the Chiefs two years ago in Arizona, but Mahomes orchestrated a comeback, and Harrison Butker sealed the win with a last-minute field goal.

“I’ve grown so much since that game,” Hurts reflected. “Every game teaches you something, whether it’s good, bad, or indifferent. I’ve taken those lessons, matured, and applied them to prepare for moments like this.”

The Eagles didn’t have Barkley in their lineup during their last Super Bowl matchup with the Chiefs. Acquired in free agency this season, Barkley is on the brink of making history. With 2,447 rushing yards this season, including playoffs, he is just 30 yards away from surpassing Terrell Davis’s 26-year-old record for most rushing yards in a single season.

Barkley will celebrate his 28th birthday on game day. When asked how he plans to mark the occasion, he said, “Hopefully with green and white confetti raining down and holding up the Lombardi Trophy.”

Pro Picks predicted the Eagles would defeat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl before the season began, and we’re standing by that prediction.

Highest Terror Alert for Superbowl: 125.000 fans and 2.000 officers

New Year’s Day terror attack struck New Orleans’ historic French Quarter, the city is on highest terror alert for Sunday. The FBI is alerted by numerous threats.

More than 125,000 visitors — including President Donald Trump — are expected to converge on the Big Easy this week for days of revelry capped off by the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome to crown this season’s NFL champion.

Following the truck-ramming attack that killed 14 people and injured dozens more along Bourbon Street, one of the city’s most famous thoroughfares, alleged security lapses triggered multiple lawsuits and investigations. But the city, the NFL and law enforcement officials insist that after more than a year of preparations, they are ready to play host.

“We’re going above and beyond what we’ve seen in the past when we’ve hosted previously,” Mayor LaToya Cantrell said. “We know we’re safer than we’ve ever been before.”

2.000 officers on high alert, no traffic, no flights, no drones

Approximately 2,000 law enforcement officers will be present for the Super Bowl, New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick told reporters Wednesday.

No vehicle traffic will be allowed on the Bourbon Street, and the city will block intersections leading to the most popular areas, Kirkpatrick said.

Security has had to “heighten” with Trump’s visit announced on Tuesday, and the city “will have to shut down some additional streets a little longer in order to provide a safe corridor for him,” Kirkpatrick said.

Drones are prohibited above downtown New Orleans and around the Superdome in the days leading up to the game, and there will be flight restrictions up to 18,000 feet (5,486 meters), according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Armed federal air marshals will be stationed around the city’s transportation hubs, scanning for suspicious people or activities and guarding against drones, said Noel Curtin, supervisory air marshal in charge with the Transportation Security Administration.

Super Bowl events will sprawl across neighborhoods far beyond the stadium, said Homeland Security Investigations New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Eric DeLaune, who is leading federal coordination of security.

The FBI puts more than 100 snipers on the roofs of New Orleans

Rooftop snipers and 100 bomb-sniffing dogs

Federal agencies from the FBI to the Secret Service are bringing in rooftop snipers and will position armored SWAT vehicles around the stadium, the French Quarter and downtown, DeLaune said.

No one will be allowed inside a cordoned-off area surrounding the Superdome without credentials, and the city already has begun shutting down and limiting traffic on roads near the stadium. The perimeter will include blast barriers and trucks will be required to pass through giant X-ray machines typically used at border crossings, DeLaune said.

Dozens of technicians and more than 100 bomb-sniffing dogs are conducting a days-long effort to scour the 400,000 square feet (37,161 square meters) of the Superdome and each of its more than 70,000 seats prior to game day, DeLaune said.

“They’re going to go from top to bottom on that building to make sure it’s clear and it’s safe. They open every door, check under every seat,” DeLaune said.

Much of the security infrastructure will carry over to the Mardi Gras season, which has been upgraded to Homeland Security’s highest risk rating to receive more manpower and resources.

New Year’s Day attack has changed security plans completely

Multiple lawsuits have claimed city authorities were aware of Bourbon Street’s vulnerabilities to the kind of truck-ramming attack that the Islamic State group-inspired Shamsud-Din Jabbar carried out. He drove his F-150 around a police car parked as a makeshift barricade and plowed into pedestrians before he crashed and was killed by police.

The bollard system of steel columns installed to block vehicle traffic was being replaced at the entrance to Bourbon Street at the time of the attack. It remains on track for completion before the Super Bowl, officials said.

Authorities say they have brought in more types of physical barriers to protect entry points resulting from concerns that the new bollard system was not strong enough to block vehicle attacks.

The NFL and federal and city agencies “put a fresh set of eyes” on their plans post-Jan. 1, DeLaune said, noting the New Orleans Police Department hired former New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton and his team from high-profile security firm Teneo.

“No specific or credible threats” have surfaced, NFL security chief Cathy Lanier said Wednesday.

In January, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry ordered the removal of multiple homeless encampments near the stadium and moved dozens of unhoused people into a temporary warehouse shelter.

He also announced the creation of an “enhanced security zone” along Bourbon Street to bookend Super Bowl weekend and said he would deploy 350 National Guard members.

After authorities found Jabbar had planted ice chests containing undetonated improvised explosive devices around the French Quarter, Landry declared a ban on coolers and ice chests in these areas and ordered mandatory searches of bags for anyone entering the Bourbon Street zone during Super Bowl weekend.

In accordance with state law, firearms including permitless concealed carry guns will be allowed on Bourbon Street but not inside bars, city and state police say.

“Booze and firearms don’t mix” Kirkpatrick said, adding that officers will monitor for anyone ”negligently carrying,” such as having a gun tucked in a waistband instead of a holster.

“People will be extremely unwise to bring a firearm into our hospitality areas,” Kirkpatrick said. “Don’t do it, there’s no need for it folks.”

AI and mobile apps will play a security role – with 1 million sources

The Superdome’s owner, ASM Global, has contracted New York-based artificial intelligence firm Dataminr to monitor potential and emerging threats in real time.

The company will draw from over 1 million sources of public data across 150 languages, from social media to dark web forums to traffic cameras, Dataminr Chief Security Officer Robert Crowley said.

Dataminr uses generative AI to produce memos alerting Superdome officials of trending patterns, such as an influx of posts showing swelling crowds or public disturbances as they unfold.

“It’s stitching together all these little pieces of the puzzle to get a holistic, comprehensive view of what has just happened,” Crowley said. “The faster you know what is occurring, the quicker you can take better action.”

Visitors also can report suspicious activities and receive security updates with the city’s NOLA Ready Public Safety App.
