Lindsey Vonn falls in downhill training but escapes serious injury

Lindsey Vonn, returning to competitive skiing after a six-year retirement, took a fall during a downhill training run on the Olympia delle Tofane course in Cortina. Despite the fall, Vonn skied to the finish area and received treatment in a medical tent. Her team confirmed she did not sustain any broken bones.

A determined comeback

The 40-year-old skiing legend recently returned to the sport with a titanium knee replacement. Last Sunday, she narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in a super-G race in St. Anton, Austria.

Vonn’s history with Cortina includes a record 12 victories, cementing her legacy on the course that will host the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics. Downhill and super-G races are scheduled for the weekend following Friday’s final training session.

Italian skiers lead training session

Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia, and Nadia Delago, all Italian athletes, secured the top three spots in Thursday’s training session.
