Lasting star power: Arnie delivers Super Bowl ad as a ‘Good Neighbah’ with ‘Twin’ DeVito

Longtime pals and co-stars of the film Twins, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, joined forces once again for State Farm’s latest Super Bowl commercial. In the ad, Schwarzenegger plays the nearly-heroic Agent State Farm.

However, being a spokesperson requires delivering the company’s well-known slogan, ‘Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.’ This poses a problem for the hero as he mispronounces it as ‘neighbah’ instead of ‘neighbor.’

This part of the commercial was teased beforehand, but it left viewers on a cliffhanger. The director had not yet revealed how he intended to make his faux-movie star say the crucial line.

Finally, on Sunday, the answer was unveiled. The director’s solution? Bring in DeVito, whom Schwarzenegger jokingly refers to as a ‘backstabbah,’ to deliver the line.

Not only have the duo appeared together in Twins, but they have also shared the screen in other films, including Last Action Hero in 1993, Junior in 1994, and, more recently, Schwarzenegger made a cameo on the animated series Little Demon, where DeVito voices Satan.

‘We truly enjoy collaborating,’ shared DeVito in an interview with the Sunday Times last year, expressing their desire to work together again. Schwarzenegger echoed a similar sentiment after witnessing DeVito and his daughter Lucy DeVito in the Broadway play I Need That.

‘My brother!’ Schwarzenegger exclaimed on Instagram in December. ‘It was wonderful to see Danny on Broadway in I Need That. He, Lucy, and everyone involved kept the audience entertained, laughing, and loving every minute — one of the finest plays I’ve ever witnessed, a genuine spectacle with heart!! I can’t wait to collaborate once more.’

Schwarzenegger’s consistent demand and success in the fiercely competitive entertainment industry have been well-documented. Insiders speculate that he received hefty compensation for the Super Bowl ad, which ended up being one of the top 5 spots during the game.

DeVito also revealed that the two are collaborating on a new project. ‘We were planning to do a sequel to Twins, but unfortunately, our director Ivan Reitman passed away. We miss him. However, we are back in the development stage, working on a project that will feature Arnold and me in leading roles, so we can reunite on the big screen. I am incredibly excited about it.’ According to Deadline, the movie may be titled ‘Triplets’.

In addition, Arnie has just wrapped up filming the second season of the Netflix series Fubar, set to be available for binge-watching next month.

Furthermore, the highly anticipated martial arts comedy film Kung Fury 2, co-written and directed by David Sandberg as a sequel to his 2015 featurette Kung Fury, is expected to release soon. The movie, which finished filming in 2019 and is currently in post-production, will star Sandberg, Schwarzenegger, Alexandra Shipp, Ralf Moeller, and Jorma Taccone.

It appears that the multi-talented Austrian-American celebrity has the ability to make a quick gesture with his hand and confidently declare: “I’ll be back!”
