Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to Support Harris-Walz Campaign Following Unsuccessful Bid for Vice Presidential Slot

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed his readiness to campaign for the Democratic ticket following the announcement that Vice President Kamala Harris had chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Beshear praised Harris and Walz for their dedication to improving lives, contrasting this with what he described as personal grievances motivating the other side, in a veiled reference to former President Donald Trump.

Beshear mentioned that Harris had asked him to support the campaign and that he was prepared to do whatever it takes to help ensure the success of the Harris-Walz ticket. Despite not being chosen as Harris’ running mate, Beshear stated that he is still part of the team and is willing to campaign in support of the Democratic ticket.

Regarding Walz, Beshear commended him as a good governor, friend, and individual, predicting that the attacks against him by Trump would not deter his credibility and character in the eyes of the American people. Beshear also hinted at his willingness to campaign for other Democratic candidates in key states in the upcoming election.

While discussing his future in politics, Beshear implied that he intends to focus on serving as the governor of Kentucky rather than pursuing other opportunities like a Cabinet position in a potential Harris administration. Despite not being selected as Harris’ running mate, Beshear felt that the attention brought to Kentucky during the vetting process was beneficial for the state and highlighted the positive aspects of Kentucky on a national stage. He expressed pride in showcasing Kentucky’s achievements and believed that it would have lasting benefits for the state in the future.
