Kentucky Boy Orders 70K Lollipops, Creates Delivery Nightmare

  • An 8-year-old boy in Kentucky used his mom’s phone to order 70,000 Dum-Dum lollipops, leading to a $4,000 surprise bill.
  • His plan to share the treats at a carnival caused confusion and additional shipping errors.
  • Holly LaFavers worked with Amazon and the bank to get a refund and prevent future surprise orders.

Kentucky Boy Orders 70,000 Lollipops

A young boy from Kentucky caused a big surprise for his mom. Eight-year-old Liam LaFavers decided to use his mother’s phone to order 70,000 Dum-Dum lollipops. He planned to share these treats with his friends at a carnival he wanted to host. What started as a kind gesture turned into a major mix-up when the delivery arrived, leaving his mother, Holly LaFavers, in shock.

The $4,000 Bill for the Lollipops

Holly didn’t realize what had happened until she saw the large boxes on her front porch. Her son had placed the order while playing on her phone. She immediately tried to cancel the order, but it was too late. When the order arrived, it included thousands of lollipops that would cost her about $4,000. “When I saw what the number was, I just about fainted,” Holly said.

The Plan for a Carnival Prize

Liam had an innocent plan in mind. He wanted to host a carnival and give out Dum-Dum lollipops as prizes for his friends. Holly explained, “He was being friendly. He was being kind to his friends.” His goal was simply to make everyone happy, but he didn’t understand the cost of ordering that many lollipops.

More Boxes Showed Up Unexpectedly

After the first delivery, Holly discovered that her son had ordered even more boxes. Eight additional cases had been shipped separately. Holly had to take a trip to the post office to return them. Despite her efforts, she couldn’t believe the mess it caused.

Struggling to Get a Refund

Holly worked hard to sort things out. She contacted the bank and reached out to news stations for help. After a long day of calls, Amazon finally got in touch with her. They agreed to refund her the $4,000, which gave her some relief. Holly shared the news on social media, saying that after all the stress, she would be getting her money back.

Preventing Future Surprise Orders

To avoid another surprise like this, Holly made sure to change her phone settings. She wanted to ensure that no one could order items without her approval in the future. Holly learned a big lesson from this experience and is taking steps to prevent it from happening again.
