Taeil, a South Korean singer and a member of the popular K-pop band NCT, has officially departed from the group after facing accusations related to a sexual crime, according to an announcement from his agency, SM Entertainment. The label stated that Taeil has been accused in a criminal case concerning a sexual offense, without specifying the exact details of the alleged crime.
The decision for Taeil to leave NCT was made after serious consideration of the situation and discussions between the artist and the label. SM Entertainment expressed that Taeil will not be continuing his activities with the group due to the severity of the issue. The singer is reported to be cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation into the matter.
As a prominent member of NCT, a widely known South Korean boy band that made their debut in 2016, Taeil was actively involved in NCT 127, one of the subunits under the group’s umbrella which also includes NCT Dream and NCT Wish. With over two dozen members overall, NCT has gained a considerable global following.
The statement released by SM Entertainment regarding Taeil’s departure has received significant attention, accumulating more than 45.7 million views within just a few hours of being made available to the public.
