In Skowhegan, Maine, a man named Nicholas Carter, aged 31, attempted to flee the courthouse after being convicted of aggravated assault against a 14-month-old child. Despite being handcuffed, Carter made a dash out of the building, but his escape was short-lived as two jurors and a detective intervened promptly.
Footage captured the hectic scene as Carter sprinted down a hallway in the courthouse, skillfully evading a person who tried to block his path. He managed to escape the building, with several individuals chasing after him.
Subsequent videos showed Carter running through a parking lot until he stumbled and fell in a yard. It was there that two jurors and a detective managed to capture him and prevent his getaway.
Following a three-day trial at the Somerset County Superior Courthouse, Carter was found guilty of the aggravated assault. A sentencing hearing for this conviction is scheduled to take place in the near future.
