Juan Soto had a remarkable game on Tuesday night, hitting three home runs in one game for the first time in his career. Playing for the New York Yankees against the Chicago White Sox, Soto started off his impressive performance with a two-run homer to left field in the third inning off pitcher Jonathan Cannon. He followed it up with a solo shot in the fifth inning, hitting the ball the other way.
In the seventh inning, Soto hit his 33rd homer of the season off left-handed reliever Fraser Ellard, extending the Yankees’ lead to 4-0 with a drive to right field. Despite his exceptional performance, Soto fell short of tying the major league record for four home runs in a single game when he walked in the ninth inning after just missing a 3-0 pitch outside the strike zone.
This incredible feat makes Soto the second Yankees player this season to hit three home runs in a game, following rookie Ben Rice’s achievement on July 6 against Boston.
