Joe Rogan claims Kamala Harris tried to avoid legalizing marijuana to protect past convictions

Joe Rogan has stirred up controversy with his latest claim, asserting that Vice President Kamala Harris has actively resisted efforts to legalize marijuana to prevent the invalidation of past drug convictions.

Her insistence to avoid that topic in a podcast that never materialized was the main sticking point, according to Rogan. Harris wanted to avoid a backlash by progressives with her tough stance.

On a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, the comedian and host alleged that Harris, who previously served as California’s Attorney General, has a vested interest in maintaining marijuana’s illegal status.

Rogan argued that Harris’s stance on cannabis might be linked to her record as a prosecutor, suggesting she’s avoided supporting legalization to sidestep questions about her past convictions related to marijuana offenses. Rogan’s comments reignite scrutiny over Harris’s past handling of drug cases during her tenure as a prosecutor and AG, where she reportedly oversaw thousands of marijuana-related convictions.

Harris has previously expressed cautious support for decriminalizing marijuana and has even co-sponsored legislation aimed at reform, though critics argue her shift in stance comes too late. For Rogan and many of his followers, however, her current position appears contradictory, considering her prosecutorial history.

Rogan’s statements add fuel to the ongoing debate over marijuana reform and the role of past convictions, raising questions about Harris’s commitment to progressive drug policy change.
