Joe Rogan Alerts Police: Liver King Has Big Drug Issues!

  • Joe Rogan told Austin police he believed fitness influencer Liver King was mentally unstable. He thought Liver King was possibly struggling with a serious drug issue.
  • The warning came after Liver King posted a series of alarming social media videos threatening to fight Rogan. He then traveled to Austin, Texas.
  • Police arrested the influencer at a hotel. They charged him with making a terroristic threat and ordered a mental health evaluation upon his release.

Joe Rogan had every reason to feel uneasy when a familiar face from the fitness world suddenly began targeting him with unhinged threats. The man behind the chaos was none other than Brian Johnson — better known to his millions of followers as the “Liver King.” But what started as bizarre, shirtless rants on Instagram quickly spiraled into something far more serious.

It was early Tuesday morning in Austin, Texas. Police were first alerted to Johnson’s troubling behavior. Detectives with the Austin Police Department were made aware of several disturbing videos the 47-year-old influencer had posted to his social media accounts. In them, Johnson raved about fighting Rogan — not metaphorically, but in person, and soon.

Johnson had actually traveled to Austin — the very city Rogan moved to after leaving Los Angeles in 2020. His threatening behavior didn’t let up once he arrived. Instead, the posts became even more aggressive, prompting law enforcement to act quickly.

Rogan Says He’s Never Met Johnson, But Considers Him a Threat

Detectives reached out to Rogan to assess the potential danger. According to police, the popular podcaster and UFC commentator told them he had never spoken to Johnson. He didn’t know him personally. Still, the content of the videos alarmed him.

Rogan reportedly described the influencer as “significantly unstable” and voiced concern that Johnson “seems like he needs help.” He wasn’t wrong.

By 6 p.m. that same evening, officers had located Johnson at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Austin. They arrested him without incident and charged him with making a terroristic threat — a Class B misdemeanor in Texas.

Johnson’s mugshot painted a stark contrast to the jacked, wild-eyed persona fans are used to seeing online. He appeared disheveled, dazed, and emotionless, with heavy bags under his eyes and a blank stare.

He was released later that evening on a \$20,000 bond, under strict conditions: no contact with Joe Rogan or his family. Also, a mandatory mental health evaluation within seven days, and a prohibition on owning or possessing any firearms.

A Troubled Figure with a Massive Following

Brian Johnson rose to fame online by pushing what he called the “ancestral lifestyle.” With bulging muscles and a primal aesthetic, the Liver King became a controversial figure in the health and fitness world. He often touted raw organ meats and extreme workouts as the secrets to his shredded body. But in 2022, his empire took a hit when he admitted to spending over \$11,000 a month on steroids — shattering the illusion he had carefully crafted for years.

Despite the scandal, Johnson retained a significant following, with over 10 million fans across platforms. Yet in recent months, some of his content had begun to raise eyebrows, even among loyal supporters.

This week’s meltdown, though, went far beyond odd behavior. On Monday, Johnson posted a series of shirtless videos on Instagram. He wore a wolf pelt and held what looked like two firearms. In one rant, he directly challenged Rogan to a fight, calling it an “honorable” duel.

“Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out,” he declared, staring into the camera. “Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you. I have no training in jiu-jitsu, you’re a black belt… but I’m picking a fight anyway. Your rules. I’ll come to you.”

In another video posted the same day, he doubled down. He claimed he had a family to fight for. He bizarrely suggested that being choked out by Rogan would be a dream come true.

“You never come across something like this,” he said. “Someone willing to die… hoping you’ll choke me out.”

A Meltdown Broadcast in Real Time

The videos didn’t stop there. Johnson continued posting as he made his way through Austin on Tuesday, right up until the moment he was arrested. He was taken away in handcuffs. The footage was surreal — a man in full meltdown, broadcasting his unraveling to millions of viewers.

By Wednesday, Johnson had resurfaced online, referencing the incident but avoiding Rogan’s name directly. Instead, he referred to the comedian simply as “some guy” while making another rambling video. In this video, he name-dropped Rogan’s comedy club, the Mothership, in a confusing and disconnected statement.

Rogan has yet to publicly address Johnson’s arrest or the bizarre invitation to fight. Though fans of his show have been buzzing nonstop, the Liver King has been mentioned in past episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience, mostly in conversations about steroids and extreme bodybuilding.

But the prospect of having him as a guest now seems impossible — and frankly dangerous.

Public Reaction: Concern, Disappointment, and Disbelief

The response from the public has been swift and polarizing. Fans of Rogan expressed concern for his safety and praised him for staying calm under pressure. Others, especially those who had followed the Liver King’s fitness journey, were left confused and disappointed.

“This guy needs serious help,” one user commented on Instagram. “It’s not funny anymore.”

Another added, “You build this image, then throw it all away like that? It’s sad.”

Still, some saw the situation as a cautionary tale about the dark side of influencer fame. Chasing clicks, virality, and a performative identity can push someone past the point of return.

“It’s like watching someone live inside a character they created, and then not being able to get out,” said one fan who had unfollowed Johnson after the steroid scandal.

What Comes Next for Liver King?

With a pending court date, strict release conditions, and a looming mental health evaluation, the road ahead for Johnson looks steep. Whether he’ll return to his influencer ways — or step away entirely — remains to be seen.

For now, the Liver King persona has been stripped bare. The fur, the bravado, the wild energy — all replaced by legal trouble, public concern, and the hard reality of what happens when internet fame spins out of control.

As for Joe Rogan? He hasn’t said a word. But judging by the silence, he’s probably hoping the madness stays in the past — and far away from his doorstep.
