JFK Files Release: Trump Reveals Secrets After Decades

President Donald Trump announced that all remaining JFK assassination files will be released. This JFK Files Release involves a total of 80,000 pages. He said they will be available on Tuesday. Many people have waited decades to see these documents. Trump called them “interesting” but did not share details about their contents.

No Redactions Expected in the Released Documents

Trump assured that the documents will not be redacted. He emphasized that everything will be made public. “We are releasing all the Kennedy files,” he said. “You can’t redact.” This statement suggests that every detail will be available for public review during the JFK Files Release. The files contain a “tremendous amount of paper,” according to Trump. He did not provide specific insights into what might be revealed.

Announcement Made at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Trump made the announcement during a visit to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. He spent two hours at the center. This visit gave him an opportunity to express his thoughts on both the JFK Files Release and the Kennedy Center itself. He had previously mentioned releasing these documents during his first term, but many remained secret. In January, he signed an order to declassify the remaining files. Now, he confirms they will be available Tuesday afternoon.

Trump Has Not Personally Reviewed the JFK Files

When asked if he had reviewed the files, Trump said he had only heard about them. He did not provide an executive summary or any personal interpretation. He encouraged the public to read and analyze the documents themselves. “It’s a lot of stuff, and you’ll make your own determination,” he said. The JFK Files Release could potentially bring new insights into the long-debated assassination of President Kennedy in 1963.

Possible Revelations About a CIA Officer’s Involvement

It remains unclear what these files will reveal. Some reports suggest they may contain information about a CIA officer who played a role in the events surrounding Kennedy’s assassination. This officer, based in Miami, supported a group of Cuban exiles. Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who killed Kennedy, attempted to infiltrate this group weeks before the assassination. The FBI recently found 2,400 new documents that may provide additional details about this connection. Some experts believe the documents may include files about George Joannides, a CIA officer who oversaw covert operations in Miami in 1963.

Trump Criticizes the Kennedy Center’s Design and Management

Earlier on Monday, Trump toured the Kennedy Center. He used this visit to express his dissatisfaction with the building’s design. He stated that he did not like the painted steel columns or the new expansion of the center. Trump also criticized some of the staff working there. He recently took control of the Kennedy Center board and appointed several of his allies. His changes to the center’s leadership signal a shift in its direction.

Plans to Bring More Broadway Shows to the Kennedy Center

Trump shared his thoughts on the performances hosted at the Kennedy Center. He stated that he never liked the Broadway show “Hamilton.” However, he promised to bring in more successful Broadway productions. “We are going to have some really good shows,” he said. He believes that hosting popular Broadway hits will improve the center’s reputation and attract more visitors.

Complaints About the Costly $250 Million Expansion

Trump also criticized the Kennedy Center’s recent $250 million expansion project. He described it as a waste of money. He specifically mentioned that many of the new rooms are located underground and are not useful. Additionally, he questioned the design elements outside the building, particularly the large cubes that block the view. He believes the money could have been better spent elsewhere.

Issues With Staff and High Performance Costs

Trump also expressed concerns about the staff at the Kennedy Center. He stated that he had problems with some of the employees. To address this, he placed Ric Grenell, a former U.S. ambassador, in charge of the center. He also appointed other political allies to the board. Trump highlighted issues with the costs of performances. He shared that country singer Lee Greenwood wanted to perform at the center. However, the high costs prevented this from happening. He claimed that union fees required $30,000 just to move a piano for the performance. He called the situation unacceptable and promised to fix it.

Trump Wants More Influence Over Kennedy Center Honors

The New York Times recently reported that Trump wants greater control over the Kennedy Center Honors. This is a prestigious award given to artists for their contributions to American culture. In the past, Trump has not attended the Kennedy Center Honors ceremonies. His recent changes to the center’s leadership suggest that he may want more influence over future recipients. He continues to position himself as a key figure in shaping the future of the Kennedy Center.
