Jets General Manager Douglas Optimistic Reddick’s Holdout Will be Resolved Soon, Team Maintains Position

The New York Jets are facing uncertainty as Haason Reddick, their star edge rusher, continues to hold out from the team. General Manager Joe Douglas stated that the team will not engage in negotiations for a new deal with Reddick until he reports to the team. Despite the lack of recent communication with Reddick’s agent, Douglas expressed that the team is eagerly awaiting Reddick’s return.

Reddick, who requested a trade in August, has been absent from team activities since the off-season. He has incurred fines amounting to $1.8 million for missing training camp and forfeiting a workout bonus. With the holdout now in its 38th day, Reddick, who is in the final year of his current contract, remains adamant about not reporting to the team.

The Jets acquired Reddick in March from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for draft picks. Although discussions about a contract extension took place during the trade negotiations, no agreement was reached. Douglas emphasized that Reddick’s absence has been noted, but the team remains hopeful for a resolution.

Despite the ongoing situation with Reddick, Coach Robert Saleh remains optimistic, stating that Reddick still has time to join the team for the season opener. As the Jets prepare to face the San Francisco 49ers on September 9, the possibility of Reddick’s participation in the game is becoming slimmer.

While the focus is on Reddick’s holdout, Douglas highlighted the positive atmosphere within the team and the unity demonstrated during training camp. Although addressing questions about Reddick dominated the conversation, Douglas emphasized the team’s overall readiness for the upcoming season.
