Investigation Underway in the UK Regarding Ticketmaster’s Pricing of Oasis Tickets

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the U.K. has initiated a probe into the ticket selling process for the upcoming reunion concerts of the popular 1990s Britpop band Oasis. The investigation will focus on the practices of Live Nation Entertainment’s subsidiary, Ticketmaster, particularly examining “dynamic pricing,” a strategy where ticket prices can fluctuate rapidly based on market dynamics.
Numerous Oasis fans reported frustration after spending hours in virtual queues on Ticketmaster’s website last Saturday. Complaints arose when they discovered they had to pay more than twice the original ticket price due to the implementation of dynamic pricing.
