Insider Q&A: The Impact of LinkedIn’s Optimism on AI for Job Seekers

LinkedIn has fully embraced generative AI technology, which allows artificial intelligence systems to generate text, images, and other content in response to user queries. The platform recently introduced new AI features to aid users in job searches, resume customization, and the creation of personalized cover letters.
According to a report by Emarketer in May, consumer-facing brands have shown increased interest in LinkedIn, attributing it to new advertising formats and shifts in user behavior on the Microsoft-owned platform.
LinkedIn’s Chief Product Officer, Tomer Cohen, discussed generative AI, the job market, brand marketing, and TikTok creators in a recent interview. The job market remains robust despite economic challenges, with a significant increase in job applications and a high demand for AI-specific roles.
Various industries, from tech to finance and fashion, are seeking employees with AI skills. However, there is a current gap in AI proficiency among leaders, with many acknowledging the importance of adopting AI without knowing how to do so. This has led to a significant increase in professionals learning AI skills on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn has revamped its recruiter tool using AI to assist in writing messages, resulting in a 40% increase in message acceptance rates. Additionally, enhancements have been made to aid users in understanding their fit for specific roles, helping them create tailored resumes and cover letters for job applications.
The platform is also focusing on facilitating B2B marketing, recognizing its effectiveness in reaching multiple decision-makers and driving sales over extended periods. LinkedIn has observed a shift in user behavior towards more personal and authentic sharing, encouraging knowledge sharing and networking on the platform.
Regarding TikTok potentially facing a ban, LinkedIn is expected to attract professional-oriented creators from platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram’s Reels. Creators are recognizing the opportunity to expand their reach by engaging with audiences on multiple platforms, including LinkedIn.
