Influencer calls out body shaming after Disneyland experience (Photo: Gracie Bon/Instagram)
A plus-size influencer has called her visit to Disneyland a “nightmare” after being constantly stared at by other visitors. Gracie Bon, 27, says her fun day with family turned into a series of uncomfortable moments, with many tourists filming her curvy body.
Gracie, a Panama-born model, took to Instagram to share the ordeal with her 10 million followers. The video, now seen over 5 million times, shows her frustration with the constant stares. In the video, she says, “Is it just me or are people not used to seeing big girls like me at Disneyland?” She describes how, from the moment she arrived, people started recording her, making the visit feel like a nightmare.
Fed up with being filmed, Gracie decided to turn the tables. “If they were going to record me, I was going to record them,” she said. She gave her glasses, which had a hidden camera lens, to her brother and had him capture the reactions of others. Gracie couldn’t believe the looks she got. “People were shocked to see my body, like ‘Hello, this is America,‘” she said.
In her video, Gracie also captured the moment she had to take up two seats on the Toy Story ride. She laughed it off, saying, “That just means double the fun!” As she walked around the park, visitors stared at her and filmed her body. She couldn’t understand why people treated her as if she were a rare sight. “Almost 40 percent of people here are plus size, so why were they acting like I was some rare creature?” she questioned.
Gracie’s message was clear: “What do people expect me to do? Shrink myself so I can go to an amusement park?” She expressed her frustration at the idea that people still haven’t accepted that not everyone looks the same. “I can’t just wake up one day and be skinny. It’s 2025 and people need to realize that not everybody looks the same and that’s okay.”
Despite the attention, Gracie refused to let the stares ruin her fun. “I had so much fun,” she said. She also added that she didn’t let the need for two seats on the Slinky Dog ride get her down, embracing it as double the excitement.
While many people showed sympathy for Gracie’s experience, not everyone agreed with her take. Some commenters sided with the onlookers, claiming Gracie knew why people were looking at her. One user wrote, “You’re not naturally ‘big,’ that’s the issue.” Another said, “No one wants to see that at a theme park with children.” Many others argued that Gracie loved the attention, with comments like, “You thrive off the attention” and “She’s not serious.”
Some commenters also took issue with Gracie’s body, accusing her of having it altered. “It’s not because you’re plus size. It’s because your body has been modified and looks too ridiculous for most people,” one person claimed. Another wrote, “They are looking cause it’s not natural.”
Gracie has faced criticism about her body before. In response to the negative comments, she has defended her appearance, saying, “My body is what God gave me.” She has repeatedly denied having any enhancement surgeries, urging people to accept her natural shape.
Gracie’s video sparked a debate. While some defended her right to be at Disneyland and enjoy her day without judgment, others criticized her appearance. It’s clear that Gracie’s experience highlights ongoing issues with body image and societal expectations. Despite the controversy, she remains unapologetic and determined to enjoy her time, no matter who’s watching.
