Individual charged with purchasing firearm linked to Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rally shooting receives sentence.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 22-year-old resident of Kansas City has received a probation sentence for his involvement in the illegal purchase of a firearm that was later discovered at the site of a mass shooting during a rally for the Kansas City Chiefs in February.

On Thursday, U.S. District Court Judge Howard Sachs imposed a five-year probation term on Ronnel Williams Jr., as reported by local media.

Efforts to reach Williams’ public defenders for comments were unsuccessful, as they did not respond to inquiries made on the following day.

In July, Williams entered a guilty plea for conspiracy to provide false information while acquiring a firearm. He admitted to falsifying information to purchase a gun on behalf of a 19-year-old, who was not legally permitted to buy the firearm. This individual is now facing similar legal charges and is scheduled for sentencing on December 12. He has claimed that the firearm was stolen from him.

Williams’ attorney asserts that his client has no ties to the individuals involved in the shooting at the parade. The firearm was recovered by law enforcement after the incident.

The tragic shooting in February resulted in one fatality and approximately two dozen injuries. In connection with this incident, three individuals have been charged with murder.
