Human skeleton discovered in sleeping bag left on NYC street for garbage collection

In Manhattan, New York City, police reported finding decomposing human remains wrapped in a sleeping bag left on the sidewalk for trash collection. The disturbing discovery took place around 5 p.m. on Friday when authorities were notified of a suspicious package emitting a foul smell outside a building in the Kips Bay neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers uncovered the remains within a sleeping bag among other garbage bags placed on the curb for pickup.
Footage and images circulating on social media depict what seems to be a body enveloped in a dark sleeping bag, further encased in black trash bags. The police have refrained from divulging any information about the potential victim, such as age or gender.
Law enforcement mentioned that the medical examiner’s office is currently performing an autopsy to elucidate the cause of death and ascertain if any foul play is involved in this grim incident.
