Tragic Helicopter Crash in Houston

A helicopter crash in Houston on Sunday evening claimed the lives of four people, including a child, according to fire officials. The helicopter reportedly struck a radio tower before going down.

Crash Details and Location

Authorities stated that the aircraft involved was an R44 helicopter. The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. in Houston’s Second Ward, located east of downtown. The helicopter had apparently taken off from Ellington Field, roughly 15 miles away from the crash site.

Identities of Victims Unreleased

As of Sunday evening, the identities and ages of the victims had not yet been made public. Houston officials continue to investigate the details surrounding the tragic event.

The Houston Fire Department acknowledged the incident via a post on X, stating, “PIO is en route to a reported helicopter crash at Engelke & Ennis.” City Councilmember Mario Castillo also posted on X, confirming that the helicopter involved was a private touring helicopter, although this information had yet to be officially verified.

Emergency Response at the Scene

Local media outlets reported a significant emergency response to the crash, with numerous personnel arriving at the scene. Authorities have urged residents in the area to contact 911 if they find any debris or other materials on their property that may assist in the investigation.
