Rescuers are currently engaged in a search mission for a helicopter that has gone missing in Russia’s far east. The Mi-8 helicopter, carrying 22 individuals, departed from near the Vachkazhets volcano in the Kamchatka region. According to Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, the helicopter failed to reach its intended destination as planned.
The agency stated that they believe there were 19 passengers and three crew members on board the Mi-8 helicopter, a two-engine aircraft originally engineered in the 1960s. This type of helicopter is extensively utilized in Russia, with a history of frequent crashes in the country and in neighboring nations as well as around the world.
Rescue teams are actively working to locate the missing helicopter and its occupants. The situation is ongoing, with concerns for the well-being of those on board.
