Luigi Mangione, the alleged shooter in the high-profile murder case of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, reportedly penned a manifesto expressing deep frustration with the “corporation and greed” dominating the healthcare industry, according to law enforcement sources and journalist Ken Klippenstein.

Klappenstein unveiled the document—reportedly discovered on Mangione at the time of his arrest Monday in Altoona, PA—via his social media platforms. Verified by officials, the 262-word handwritten letter, addressed to “the Feds,” outlines Mangione’s grievances with the U.S. healthcare system, singling out UnitedHealthcare.

Healthcare Industry Blamed for Systemic Failures

In the manifesto, Mangione criticized the U.S. healthcare system as the “most expensive in the world” yet ranking only 42nd in life expectancy globally. He accused UnitedHealthcare of exacerbating the problem, calling it “the largest company in the U.S. by market cap, behind only Apple, Google, Walmart.”

Mangione wrote, “They continue to abuse our country for immense profit because the American public has allowed them to get away with it,” emphasizing his belief that corporate greed has long gone unchecked.

Apologies with Ominous Undertones

Although Mangione expressed regret for “any strife” his actions might have caused, he ominously stated, “These parasites simply had it coming.” While he stopped short of naming Thompson directly, the manifesto hinted at motives connected to the CEO’s shooting.

He also confirmed acting alone, writing, “Straggling notes and To Do lists illuminate the gist of it,” while extending an unusual respect to federal authorities, saying, “I respect what you do for the country.”

A Call Against “Power Games”

Mangione concluded the letter by framing his actions as a response to systemic failures, declaring, “This is not an issue of awareness at this point, but clearly power games at play.” He described himself as “the first to face it with such brutal honesty.”

Obviously the problem is more complex, but I do not have space, and frankly I do not pretend to be the most qualified person to lay out the full argument. But many have illuminated the corruption and greed (e.g.: Rosenthal, Moore), decades ago and the problems simply remain. It is not an issue of awareness at this point, but clearly power games at play. Evidently I am the first to face it with such brutal honesty.”
