Harris secures $633 million in Q3 but incurs significant expenses in final efforts

Kamala Harris Campaign Fundraising Success

In recent political developments, Kamala Harris’ campaign, alongside various Democratic organizations, garnered approximately $633 million for the most recent quarter, which concluded last month. This impressive total pushes their cumulative fundraising to surpass $1 billion, allowing them to maintain a significant financial edge over Republican candidate Donald Trump as the presidential race approaches its climax.

In September alone, the vice president’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and affiliated state parties raised over $359 million, with Harris’ campaign contributing around $222 million to this sum. Notably, the campaign spent more than it earned in the same month, disbursing roughly $270 million to support a comprehensive advertising initiative aimed at engaging voters through various channels including radio, television, online platforms, and billboards. As of October, Harris’ campaign and its associated committees reported having $346 million available according to federal disclosures.

In contrast, the former president’s campaign, along with the Republican National Committee and their related organizations, reported $160 million raised for September. By the start of October, they had a total of $283 million in assets.

Breaking from customary Democratic practices, Harris’ campaign submitted its financial records late on Sunday prior to releasing their quarterly fundraising totals, showcasing impressive monthly figures that outpaced what Trump and the GOP have raised since Harris assumed leadership of the ticket from President Joe Biden in July.

Prior to these disclosures, Democratic officials highlighted that an impressive 95% of contributions to Harris this quarter came in under $200. The campaign indicated that approximately 6 million donors contributed a total of over 13.1 million gifts, of which 4.3 million were made by individuals donating for the very first time during this election cycle.

Moreover, Harris experienced significant support from prominent donors. Recently, her fundraising efforts were notably successful, bringing in $55 million during a vigorous fundraising weekend in late September spent in California. A high-profile event in Los Angeles attracted considerable attention, yielding $28 million, with appearances from celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Lily Tomlin, and Stevie Wonder. Additionally, a fundraising gathering in San Francisco, which saw attendance from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, raised another $27 million. The prior weekend, a lavish fundraiser in New York City resulted in another $27 million to bolster her campaign.
