Horror Underground: Hamas Films Starving Hostage
Heโs weak. Heโs starving. And heโs digging his own grave.
A twisted new propaganda video from Hamas shows 24-year-old Israeli hostage Evyatar David barely able to stand as he digs a hole underground โ a hole he believes will become his final resting place.
The nearly five-minute clip, released Friday, is as haunting as it is cruel. Filmed deep inside one of Hamasโs tunnels in Gaza, it shows David crossing off calendar dates on the wall with a trembling hand, before turning to the camera and saying he hasnโt eaten โfor a few days in a row.โ
Starved, Humiliated, And Buried Alive
The moment that broke the worldโs heart? A hand appears on-screen, offering him a single can of beans.
โThis whole can is for two days,โ David says, his face sunken and pale. โSo I donโt die.โ
He then turns to the shallow pit heโs digging in the cramped, dirt-walled tunnel.
โThis is the grave I think Iโm going to be buried in. Time is running out.โ
The young manโs suffering is plain. His ribs protrude. The voice cracks. His despair is unmistakable.
David Family: โHeโs Being Buried Aliveโ
The David family, who allowed the videoโs release, called the footage โone of the most horrifying acts the world has seen.โ
โWe are forced to witness our beloved son and brother, Evyatar David, deliberately and cynically starved in Hamasโs tunnels in Gaza โ a living skeleton, buried alive.โ
Their statement triggered waves of fury โ not only across Israel but around the globe.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu didnโt mince words. โHamas terrorists deliberately starve our hostages, documenting them in a cynical, humiliating, and malicious manner,โ he said.
Holocaust Survivor: โThis Is Auschwitz All Over Againโ
The horror struck a nerve among survivors of past atrocities. Holocaust survivor Naftali Fรผrst said watching the video brought her back to the darkest days of her youth.
โI survived Auschwitz and Buchenwald. I know hunger. We were so hungry, we would even eat grass. The humiliation, the fear โ this video brings it all back.โ
She wasnโt the only one to draw chilling comparisons. Lawmakers, diplomats, and human rights organizations condemned the video as a grotesque act of psychological torture โ and a war crime.
Capitol Hill Reacts With Fury
Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) was blunt: โJust look at these photos โ itโs gut-wrenching. Every day that goes by is a risk to their lives.โ
Representative Don Bacon (R-Neb.) added, โThis video is a grotesque reminder of why America must stand with Israel. If Hamas released the tortured hostages, this war would end.โ
Democratic Senator John Fetterman (D-PA), who has met with Davidโs family, said he โcannot begin to imagine the horror of this video for them.โ
He called on Hamas to โsend these poor souls home, disarm, and end this hell on earth.โ
Outrage Spreads To Europe
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot called the footage โvileโ and โunbearable.โ
โThe hostageโs hell must end,โ he posted on X.
Even as countries like the UK, Canada, and France press for Palestinian statehood recognition, officials from Washington to Paris are increasingly voicing disgust at Hamasโs brutality.
The Biden administrationโs special envoy to the region, Steve Witkoff, met with hostagesโ families in Tel Aviv Saturday. He offered little progress but made one thing clear: โNo piecemeal deals. That doesnโt work. Weโve tried everything.โ
A Second Video, Another Cry For Help
Davidโs was not the only grim video released this week.
Just one day earlier, Hamas published footage of Rom Braslavski, another hostage from the October 7 Nova music festival attack, weeping and barely recognizable from malnourishment.
Both men were captured during the massacre that launched the current war. Now they are two of just 20 hostages believed to still be alive in Gaza.
โThey are on the absolute brink of death,โ said Ilay David, Evyatarโs brother, during a rally in Tel Aviv Saturday.
โTo remain silent now is to be complicit in their slow, agonizing death.โ
Thousands March For Hostages In Israel
Every Saturday, thousands of Israelis fill the streets demanding the release of all hostages. Protesters carry posters of the missing, chant their names, and confront lawmakers.
At Saturdayโs demonstration, U.S. envoy Witkoff addressed the crowd but admitted there was no news to share.
โI hear your frustration,โ he said. โBut the situation is complicated.โ
Still, he promised: โWe have a plan to bring everyone home.โ
Trump: โSurrender Or Starveโ
Former President Donald Trump weighed in on Truth Social, writing, โThe fastest way to end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is for Hamas to SURRENDER AND RELEASE THE HOSTAGES!!!โ
The message followed sharp criticism from the global community over the suffering in Gaza. But Israel has continued allowing humanitarian aid โ including food airdrops, tactical ceasefires, and new aid corridors โ even as the war rages on.
That hasnโt stopped the accusations against Hamas from mounting.
Hamas Still Defiant, Hostages Still In Chains
Despite the uproar, Hamas has refused to back down. The terror group denied Witkoffโs claims that disarmament was on the table, saying it would never lay down arms โas long as the occupation exists.โ
They are believed to be holding 20 living hostages โ and at least 30 confirmed dead.
And yet, they continue to film and release videos of their victims, turning starvation into spectacle, and horror into propaganda.
Final Words From A Living Skeleton
At the end of the grave-digging video, Evyatar David lowers his shovel and looks up.
โIโm still alive,โ he whispers.
But for how long?
Until the world forces Hamas to release the innocent โ or until the next grave is dug.
