Haaland’s Scoreless Streak Ends in Premier League as Man City Face 1-1 Draw at Newcastle

Erling Haaland, a prolific striker for Manchester City, failed to score during a Premier League match against Newcastle, marking the first time this season he was kept off the scoresheet. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, resulting in City dropping points for the second consecutive weekend. This outcome came as a surprise to many fans, especially considering Haaland’s impressive record of 10 goals in his first five games of the campaign.

Manchester City faced Newcastle in their first league match without Rodri, a key midfielder who was sidelined for the season due to an ACL injury. This absence seemed to impact the team’s performance, as they struggled to play at their usual high level. Haaland, in particular, was largely unable to make an impact during the match at St. James’ Park.

The opening goal for City came from Josko Gvardiol in the 35th minute. The left back received a pass from Jack Grealish, cut inside onto his weaker foot, and placed a well-executed shot into the corner of the net. However, Newcastle managed to equalize in the 58th minute when Anthony Gordon converted a penalty. The penalty was awarded after the England winger, filling in as a central striker for the injured Alexander Isak, was brought down by City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes.

This draw comes on the heels of City’s previous match, where they also settled for a draw against Arsenal. With these consecutive draws, City will be looking to regain their winning form in the upcoming matches. Meanwhile, Arsenal and Liverpool, two of City’s main title contenders, were scheduled to face off against Leicester and Wolverhampton, respectively, in Saturday’s other Premier League fixtures.

The Premier League action for the weekend was not limited to these matches, with six additional games taking place alongside the encounters involving the top teams. Fans and analysts alike are eagerly following the developments in the league as the competition heats up.
