Governor names new leader of Mississippi National Guard

The Mississippi National Guard is experiencing a transition in leadership as Maj. Gen. Janson D. Boyles retires from his role as adjutant general. Gov. Tate Reeves announced the appointment of Maj. Gen. Bobby M. Ginn Jr. to succeed Boyles. Reeves praised Boyles and expressed his confidence in Ginn, stating that the National Guard is now better prepared under Boyles’ leadership.

Ginn has a longstanding commitment to service, beginning as an enlisted soldier in 1990 before being commissioned through the Mississippi National Guard’s Officer Candidate School in 1993. His military career includes various assignments, with notable experience as the commander of Camp Shelby, a training site located near Hattiesburg. Furthermore, Ginn holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Gov. Reeves expressed his assurance in Ginn’s abilities to lead the Mississippi National Guard to its fullest potential. The transition in leadership signifies a new chapter for the Guard, with Ginn’s experience and qualifications poised to continue enhancing the organization’s readiness and strength.
