Five prisoners who fled from a northern Arizona tribal facility have been recaptured, while one individual remains on the run.

WHITERIVER, Ariz. – Authorities confirmed on Sunday that five inmates who had escaped from a tribal correctional facility in northern Arizona have been apprehended, though one individual remains unaccounted for.

According to officials from the White Mountain Apache Tribe, the escape occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday evening when a total of six inmates managed to flee from the detention center.

By 10:30 p.m. that same night, three of the inmates had been recaptured, followed by the apprehension of two more the following morning.

Details surrounding the escape, including how the inmates managed to break free, whether they coordinated their escape, and the locations where they were found, have not yet been disclosed by the authorities.

Information about the duration of their detention and the specific charges against each inmate has also not been shared.

Law enforcement officials stated that they are reaching out to family and friends of the remaining escapee to gather more information as they continue their search.
