Five individuals injured in shooting near Boston festival over the weekend

A shooting that occurred near a Boston festival resulted in five individuals being injured. The incident took place on Sunday night at Franklin Park towards the end of a Dominican festival. Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox expressed the urgency to hold the perpetrators accountable for the “heinous act” of firing into a crowd. The shooting happened as the festival was concluding, and police were in the process of dispersing attendees from the park. The shooting incident contrasts with Boston’s recent success in reducing violent crimes. With only 10 homicides reported so far this year compared to 37 the previous year, the city had been commended for its efforts in decreasing crime rates.
