Bombshell! F1 signs 10-year extension with Miami Grand Prix

KEY POINTS: F1 MIAMI EXTENSION

  • Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix extended until 2041
  • Massive deal secures U.S. racing presence
  • Event touted as key part of F1’s American growth
  • Over $1 billion economic impact already recorded
  • South Florida Motorsports hailed for community work
  • Record-breaking 275,000 spectators attended in 2023
  • Race generates biggest U.S. TV audience in F1 history

Formula 1 fans in the U.S. have plenty to celebrate. The Miami Grand Prix is not going anywhere.

Before the roaring engines even fired up this weekend, F1 made headlines. A new 10-year deal was inked. The F1 Miami extension will now run through 2041.

Tom Garfinkel, managing partner of the Miami Grand Prix, proudly shared the news. He said the deal ensures the race is now here to stay.

Miami Becomes Crucial For Formula 1’s U.S. Expansion

Garfinkel hailed the milestone. He credited his team, local partnerships, and community support. The sport’s rapid growth in America played a huge role too.

This race only began in 2022. Back then, it was part of a 10-year contract. Now, just two years later, Miami secured its future deep into the 2040s.

With races also in Austin and Las Vegas, the U.S. is now central to F1’s global calendar.

Domenicali Says Miami Is Essential

F1 president Stefano Domenicali weighed in. He called Miami “vital” to Formula 1’s ambitions in America.

He praised the event’s fast rise as a marquee race. Domenicali said it showcases quality and vision. The Miami Grand Prix, he added, embodies Formula 1’s spirit in the U.S.

With the F1 Miami extension locked in, Domenicali believes it strengthens ties with American fans. Those fans, he noted, are more passionate than ever.

Mexico City Extended Too, But Miami Is Bigger

Interestingly, this announcement came days after another. Mexico City got a three-year extension of its race.

However, Miami’s new deal stands apart. Unlike Mexico City, it extends well beyond the current contract’s end.

F1 clearly sees Miami as central to its North American focus.

Over $1 Billion Economic Impact And Counting

It’s easy to see why. Miami’s first three races brought major economic benefits.

In total, more than $1 billion has already been pumped into South Florida’s economy.

South Florida Motorsports, the race promoter, plays a huge role locally too.

Miami Grand Prix Builds Strong Community Ties

Beyond racing, they support the community. Programs include internships, charity work, and promoting local businesses.

In 2024, their efforts earned them F1’s “Promoter of the Year” award. That recognition highlights how deeply the race is now tied to Miami’s culture.

Attendance Records And TV Ratings Soar

Spectator numbers also tell the story. Last year, 275,000 fans packed three days of racing action.

It wasn’t just on the ground. The Miami Grand Prix attracted the biggest U.S. F1 TV audience ever. A whopping 3.1 million tuned in.

Clearly, the F1 Miami extension is not just smart business. It reflects overwhelming demand.

Hard Rock Stadium Is The Home Of U.S. Racing

The race winds around Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium. This iconic venue hosts everything from Dolphins games to major tennis tournaments.

Next year, it will even host World Cup matches. But thanks to the F1 Miami extension, racing will remain a major attraction there through 2041.

Formula 1’s future in the United States now looks fast, furious, and firmly planted in Miami.
