Drug lord Demetrius ‘Big Meech’ Flenory transitions from federal prison to a Miami residential program

MIAMI — Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, one of the founders of the infamous drug trafficking group known as the Black Mafia Family, will be completing his prison term in a residential reentry program located in Miami, as confirmed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

At the age of 56, Flenory was initially sentenced to a 30-year prison term following his 2008 conviction on charges related to drug trafficking and money laundering. Recently, he has been transitioned to the Miami-based residential program.

The story of Flenory and his brother, Terry, was brought to life in the Starz series “BMF,” produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, which premiered in 2021. This eight-episode series explored the brothers’ rise from the challenges of inner-city Detroit in the 1980s to their status as affluent drug lords who became woven into the fabric of hip-hop culture.

In 2005, Demetrius Flenory was apprehended by law enforcement. His current sentence is slated to conclude on January 27, 2026, according to information available on the federal prison website. During his time in the program, he will be subject to supervision by the residential reentry center in Miami, which is designed to assist federal offenders as they transition back into the community.

His brother, Terry Flenory, aged 54, is also serving a comparable sentence for similar offenses at a residential reentry center in Detroit. His projected release date is set for August 17, 2025, as stated on the federal prison website.

As of now, Demetrius Flenory’s attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, has not provided any immediate response regarding his recent transfer to the Miami facility.
