INDIANAPOLIS — For the second straight season, the Miami Dolphins have secured the top spot on the NFL Players Association’s report card, followed closely by the Minnesota Vikings. The results are based on the feedback gathered from the players. Completing the top five in this year’s third annual NFLPA report card are the Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers. These rankings were announced during the NFL scouting combine held on Wednesday.
The bottom five teams on the list according to player feedback are the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, and Arizona Cardinals. Notably, this evaluation gauged responses from 1,695 players, which represents an average of 52 players per team, accounting for 77% of the union’s membership. The assessment period spanned from August 26 to November 20.
The primary goal of the report card, as highlighted by NFLPA’s executive director, Lloyd Howell, is not to criticize but rather to identify areas of improvement in the workplace conditions for players. JC Tretter, NFLPA’s chief strategy officer, mentioned that most teams have shown progress in a favorable direction.
The Washington Commanders emerged as a significant example of improvement, jumping from the 32nd to the 11th position, demonstrating commendable efforts by owner Josh Harris in enhancing team culture and operations. The Commanders’ leadership, under coach Dan Quinn, earned the top rank among players, attesting to effective changes.
Similarly, both the Falcons and Chargers made significant strides, moving from 25th to third and 30th to fifth, respectively. However, the Philadelphia Eagles, despite being the reigning Super Bowl champions, experienced a decrease from fourth place last season to 22nd.
