Decision on TikTok’s fate in 30 Days. Trump in talks with investors

U.S. President Donald Trump dropped a bombshell on Saturday. He is in active talks with several parties over TikTok’s future in the United States. The wildly popular app, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, faces mounting pressure over national security concerns. A decision on its fate will likely come within 30 days.

I’ve talked to many people, and there’s massive interest in TikTok,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One during a flight to Florida.

TikTok at the center of controversy

The U.S. government has expressed repeated concerns about TikTok’s ties to China. Officials claim the app could be used to collect data on American users, posing a threat to national security. Trump has long pushed for TikTok’s U.S. operations to be sold to an American company.

In recent weeks, the White House has worked behind the scenes on a potential solution. According to insiders, a deal could involve software giant Oracle teaming up with other investors to take control of TikTok’s U.S. operations.

What the deal might look like

Sources say the proposed plan would allow ByteDance to retain a stake in TikTok. However, Oracle would take responsibility for overseeing the app’s data collection and software updates. This move is intended to ensure user data remains secure and under U.S. jurisdiction.

Oracle, which already provides the infrastructure for TikTok’s web operations, could play a critical role. However, Trump stressed that no agreement has been finalized.

Trump clarifies the situation

Despite reports linking Oracle founder Larry Ellison to the deal, Trump stated he hasn’t spoken to Ellison directly about the matter.

When asked about ongoing negotiations, Trump explained, “No, not with Oracle. Many prominent people are talking to me. Very substantial people. I’ll make a decision probably over the next 30 days. Congress has given 90 days, but if we can save TikTok, it’s a positive step.”

Negotiations in flux

Insiders emphasize that the terms of any potential deal are far from final. Discussions remain fluid, and the full scope of the deal could evolve. Talks may even extend to TikTok’s operations in other regions, not just the U.S.

For now, TikTok’s fate hangs in the balance. The coming weeks will determine whether the app can remain in the U.S. or face a ban. The stakes are high, with millions of American users and the tech industry closely watching the outcome.

TikTok’s massive popularity makes it a valuable asset, but national security concerns cannot be ignored. Trump’s final decision could reshape the future of social media in the United States.
