David Wasinger, a St. Louis attorney, secures victory in Republican primary for Missouri lieutenant governor

In Jefferson City, Missouri, St. Louis attorney David Wasinger secured victory in the Republican primary for Missouri lieutenant governor, edging out state Sen. Lincoln Hough by a narrow margin. Wasinger expressed his determination for change, stating to KCUR public radio, “Missourians want change. I’ll use the lieutenant governor’s office as a bully pulpit to expose the corruption and insider deals taking place in Jefferson City.”
The upcoming November general election is expected to see Wasinger facing Democratic nominee state Rep. Richard Brown in a state heavily dominated by the GOP, where there are currently no Democrats holding statewide offices. A certified public accountant, Wasinger had previously run for state auditor in 2018 but was unsuccessful in securing the Republican primary nomination.
