Milwaukee’s guard Damian Lillard will be absent for the Bucks’ upcoming game against Cleveland on Friday evening due to a strained right calf.
The team announced Lillard’s status through an injury report released on Thursday night, confirming that the seven-time all-NBA player will not take the court.
Earlier in the day, both Lillard and his teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo received recognition as members of the all-tournament team for the NBA Cup.
Throughout the six games of the NBA Cup, Lillard maintained an impressive average of 27.3 points. He contributed 23 points in the Bucks’ victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder during the championship game, which concluded with a score of 97-81 in Las Vegas.
In addition to Lillard’s injury, Antetokounmpo is dealing with right patella tendinopathy, while forward Khris Middleton is facing an illness. Both Antetokounmpo and Middleton have been labeled as probable for the Friday matchup, with Middleton having missed the NBA Cup final.
