NEW YORK — Cynthia Erivo, the acclaimed star of “Wicked,” has been chosen to host this year’s Tony Awards, adding another prestigious role to her impressive repertoire of achievements.
Erivo expressed her enthusiasm in a statement, saying, “I am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honor. I am looking forward to ushering the theater community at large through a night that celebrates the wonderful performances we have witnessed throughout the year. I hope I can rise to the occasion.”
The talented actress has made her mark in the entertainment industry, accumulating an impressive array of accolades including a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Tony Award, along with a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and three nominations for the Academy Award.
The upcoming Tony Awards ceremony is set to occur on June 8 at the iconic Radio City Music Hall, continuing the tradition at this well-known venue. Fans can catch the event live on CBS, with streaming available on Paramount+.
The awards are an initiative of The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, celebrating excellence in theater.
