Clemson’s Dabo Swinney Faces Poll Challenge While Casting Vote in Election

CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson University head coach Dabo Swinney has had a challenging time recently. First, his Tigers, currently ranked 19th, suffered a defeat against Louisville on Saturday night. As if that wasn’t enough, he faced an unexpected hiccup when attempting to vote on Tuesday, only to discover he was unable to do so at his designated polling place.

Swinnney, whose full name is William, reported that the voting system mistakenly prohibited him from casting his ballot. He learned that the name “William Swinney” had already been recorded as having voted the previous week. Confusion ensued as he clarified that it was actually his eldest son, Will, who had cast his vote rather than him.

Expressing his frustration, Swinney remarked, “They’ve done voted me out of the state. We’re 6-2 and 5-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, man. They’ve done shipped me off.” In order to have his say, Swinney ultimately resorted to completing a paper ballot. He was informed that there would be a hearing scheduled for Friday to sort out the misunderstanding.

“I was trying to do my best and be a good citizen and go vote,” he emphasized. “Sometimes doing your best ain’t good enough. You have to keep going though, keep figuring it out.”
