DeWanna Bonner led the Connecticut Sun to a 78-73 victory over the Minnesota Lynx, scoring 24 points. Alyssa Thomas recorded a triple double with 14 assists, 13 points, and 10 rebounds, while DiJonai Carrington contributed 17 points, including crucial plays in the final moments of the game.
The Lynx suffered a setback when star player Napheesa Collier exited the game in the third quarter due to a foot injury, ending her streak of scoring in double figures in 29 consecutive games. Alanna Smith led the Lynx with 14 points before fouling out, followed by Kayla McBride with 13 points and eight rebounds.
After a back-and-forth game, the Sun secured the win with Bonner making significant shots, including a key 3-pointer and a three-point play in the final quarter. Carrington also made a game-saving block and added two free throws to seal the victory.
Connecticut now holds a 2-0 record against the Lynx this season and has won five consecutive games against them in Minneapolis. The next matches will see the Lynx facing the Washington Mystics at home, while the Sun will play against the Atlanta Dream.
This game marks another impressive performance for the Sun, who now stand at 16-4 for the season, bouncing back with consecutive wins after a recent dip in form. For the Lynx, they will look to regroup before their upcoming matchup against the Mystics.
