Biden’s farewell speech draws mixed reactions amid subtle details

President Joe Biden delivered his farewell address from the Oval Office with a small pillow under his seat, sparking discussion online. The 82-year-old president, who has faced scrutiny over his health and stamina, spoke for 18 minutes, acknowledging challenges during his term.

Farewell address highlights

Biden warned of the rise of an “oligarchy,” referencing tech magnates like Elon Musk, and called for reforms, including banning “dark money” in politics and imposing term limits for Supreme Court justices. He also urged constitutional changes to ensure presidents are not immune from prosecution.

Criticisms and controversy

Critics labeled some of Biden’s remarks as hypocritical, citing his ties to political figures involved in significant financial contributions. His warning against “dark money” was notably challenged after he recently honored George Soros.

Attendees and atmosphere

The intimate setting included Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Jill Biden, and Hunter Biden, all dressed in black, symbolizing the somber tone of the address. Relations between some attendees reportedly remain tense, adding to the layered narrative surrounding the event.
