Biden to travel to New Orleans on Monday following the fatal Bourbon Street incident

President Joe Biden is scheduled to head to New Orleans next week as the city continues to cope with the aftermath of a tragic incident that occurred during New Year’s celebrations. An Army veteran drove a vehicle into a crowd, resulting in significant loss of life and injuries.

According to announcements from the White House, both the president and the first lady will arrive in New Orleans on Monday to stand in solidarity with the families and community affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. They aim to offer their condolences and support to those who have suffered due to the violence.

The devastating event resulted in fourteen fatalities. The individual responsible, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a Texas resident and Army veteran, was killed after engaging with law enforcement during an armed confrontation.

On Thursday, President Biden mentioned that he has initiated and expedited an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. He also took the opportunity to commend the resilience and strength of the New Orleans community.

Following his visit to Louisiana, President Biden will make his way to California where he is scheduled to participate in an event in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
